NoNext year will mark the 30th anniversary of our name change. Today we are no closer to being known as Louisiana than we were back in 1984. I wish we had been successful in getting ESPN, USA Today, AP, or even Louisiana based newspapers to refer to us as Louisiana, but we have not. They've all demonstrated for the past 30 years that they simply will NOT refer to us as UL or Louisiana, even in athletics. This battle can not be won. This name issue is having a negative effect on our university's progress. LSU and their many fans will never accept our name as UL, nor will any of our fellow UL System schools. For this reason, most of the state's legislators DO NOT SUPPORT our cause. As a state funded university, this is not a good situation. We have a nationally known brand in "Ragin Cajuns". We should put our efforts into promoting it instead of beating the same old dead horse that we've beaten for 30 years……...Or not.
