I'm sure Austin was very much a college town years ago, but there is so much going on here 24/7 that the college part has been diluted a bit. Austin sells itself as a film and music town, and Sheiks are coming here to watch Formula 1 racing now.

After a city grows beyond a certain size college town doesn't apply. Lafayette is the quintessential college town with a city feel, I loved it there.
