Thread: PAC 12

  1. Default Re: PAC 12

If someone that has credentials on CSSN/SBC. could dig up JayWalker’s post from a few years back on why multiple SBC program are against Tech and copy/paste it here, it would be enlightening to a few people here and end this man crush for Tech. It’s not just a UL thing.

Jay obviously cannot do it today with his position with the university.

Serious question to everyone freaking out. Outside of being in same conference as Boise, what benefit is it being in Pac over being in the sunbelt?

Oh so now TV money matters even if it comes with weird Gametimes that will "hurt the future of the program" ? BTW Texas St will not get $10M...4 Max

Its always mattered, which is why I was a proponent of going independant (years ago) and establishing a P5 schedule as such.

It would have placed Louisiana #1 on the radar of any conference expansion talks.

With the advent of 9 conference games its no longer feasable but the objective all along is to establish yourself as a proactive budget builder.

TXST gets to go from failing to meet expectations in the Sun Belt to failing to meet expectations in the PAC12? If they do go (and I don't want them to) then at least we can stop hearing that "this is TXST's year."

Other than the SBC hedging its bets a Louisiana school might also be leaving, why would the SBC or an SBC connected person leak news like this? On the other hand considering the recent House settlement, a school like ULM with very little chance for football success, will financially be better off dropping football and instead elevate its men's basketball budget.

Of course it does, but more importantly, it completely elevates the entire university brand with a significantly increase in national exposure. It wouldn't matter if we played at noon or at 10PM, I'm still going to wear my Cajun gear proudly and watch them.

I'd rather see Boise State, San Diego State or Oregon State coming to Cajun Field consistently or Gonzaga to the CajunDome every year instead of ULM, Troy or USA. I think most gen pop fans and Acadiana residents would agree.

If we don't pursue and get left in the SBC, then what does that look like? We dominate football and get a bowl game against a CUSA or MAC school? The PAC will be the strongest league (perception wise) in the G6 so even if we were to go 12-0 or 11-1 in the regular season, I don't ever see them putting a SBC school over a PAC or AAC school.

Dominate MBB every year? Great we get the ONE-bid the conference will ever get! What would that give us, a #13-16 seed against a very strong P4 school. But hey, we made the tournament!

We've accomplished so much of our goals in the last 10 years- football success, continued success in Baseball & Softball, investment in to MBB, as of now over $100 million in facility renovations and strengthen of our academic profile with R1 Status. We've proven to ourselves and to the public of what we can achieve, but now it's time to start setting new goals, bigger goals and planing for the next 10 years.
