Remember when all we wanted to be was in a regional conference with a school like Southern Miss? Boy, that ship has sailed fast.

Well college athletics in and of itself is hardly recognizable anymore, especially for G5 type programs like us.
Hell, Oregon State baseball played independent this season because of the changed conference landscape, rather than joining Wash State in the MWC. Now they’re in the CWS.
Unfortunately, to the average fan…Texas State has had a few good seasons and went to similar RinkyDink.com bowl games, so their program must be similar to ours.
Our biggest problem is that we have an SEC behemoth in between us and the major population center that we could represent.
San Marcos sits between UT Austin and UTSA being in the population centers on either side of the university.
Again, we need to acknowledge that Texas State’s current President has been VERY aggressive in athletic positioning. Hasn’t necessarily produced major results, but there has been improvement in football and baseball has become seen as one of the contenders in our conference.
AND Texas A&M. Love T-Joe and thankful for everything he's done here. It's honestly worthy of a statue on campus, but it feels like he doesn't or hasn't built the necessary relationships needed to position UL's athletic future.
AND if the AAC schools find the $25 million to leave, I wouldn't be surprised if they went with GA State, JMU, App, Marshall or Coastal. This would put the SBC back at the bottom and something we'd have trouble recovering from.
