This entire process reminds me of how the AAC filled in after losing programs. Remember North Texas, very similar to Texas St. in size but with more success in football and basketball at the time. All we heard was how they will bring the Dallas market with them and what a great move it was for them. Fast forward to today, no one cares about North Texas and their media deal was less than the legacy members.
Interesting you brought up FIU and FAU, both joined for the same reasons. FAU has made the most of their presence in the AAC, but no one cares about FIU for the most part. The market provides airports and yet the (U) Miami still owns the market. The difference in these two scenarios is the travel cost hasn't killed either program in cost because the remain the Southern Footprint.
Texas St will be flying every spring sport to the West Coast and Boise Idaho. Now let's see if they accepted a media share less than OSU and WASt.
