I don’t think so. The money would be comparable to what we currently get and Tulane and Memphis will likely be leaving in a couple years once the ACC gets gutted. The PAC, to me, was attractive due to the potential payout and competition. I personally feel the SBC is on par, if not better, with/than the AAC. I’ll say this, the AAC has much better bowl tie-ins.
I don't see the SBC on a par with the AAC. Just look at the teams in each conference.
AAC - UTSA, Tulane, Memphis, Rice, UNT, UAB, USF, ECU, Army, Navy, Tulsa, Temple, Charlotte, FAU
SBC - GA Southern, GA State, Coastal, ODU, JMU, ULM, Troy, USA, Marshall, App State, Ark State, USM, Texas State & UL
Who would our fan base rather see on our schedule? How would our fan base respond to a home schedule, with Army, Navy, Memphis, Tulane, ECU, USF, Rice and Tulsa vs. ULM, USA, Troy, GA Southern and GA State? No comparison, with exceptions of Marshall, App State, USM, Ark State and JMU (once Texas State leaves), the SBC is not attractive. And, how often do we play JMU, Marshall and App State?
If the PAC 12 takes UTSA and Texas State, that will leave one opening for a western based team in the AAC. The AAC is a market driven conference. Would Lafayette replace San Antonio? Only if we market UL like Texas State does, i.e. San Marcos includes San Antonio and Austin. UL will need to include Lake Charles and Baton Rouge, maybe even Alexandria. Why not?
And, if Tulane and Memphis move to the PAC 12 in a couple of years, the AAC will cherry pick from the SBC, likely App State and Marshall. Where would that leave the SBC - on a par with CUSA.
UL needs to be proactive and pursue affiliation with the AAC or even the PAC 12 if they move for a central US division. We can't remain status quo or we will get left behind yet again. Then again, history tells us the administration doesn't seem to care as long as we remain in a G6 conference be it the SBC or CUSA which would then likely be on equal footing and our fan base will be gone.
We've been wanting UL to be proactive, but they haven't shown it, publicly anyway.
Would be great if a certain AD answered these questions on a certain podcast, eh?

All valid opinions but over the last 5 years metrics show the SBC is a superior conference when it comes to Football to the AAC. We would play Navy just as often as we play JMU. Also, the money isn’t there. It’s PAC or nothing, IMO. Mainly because of perception and money, plus basketball would be better, although baseball would take a hit.
Of course nothing gets said publicly. Why tip off the competition?
It’s like Texas State and UTSA. How long is that going to drag out? If it’s supposedly a done deal, why wait?
Remember Arkansas State going public with the Big 12? Some people thought it was bold, most of America laughed.
Don’t play your hand until you’re called.
