Yes, it turned out to be a very wise decision; however, we got lucky as no one predicted how strong the league get. Should we lose 4-6 members to PAC and AAC, the SBC will never be anywhere close to what it is right now.
In mid-90's we didn't swing for the fences to get into CUSA 1.0. Its true, CUSA membership was always a messy work in progress for 25 years until it fell apart then turned to FCS move ups to survive. PAC 12 is certain to become a membership work in progress, too. It might not last more than 10 years but you're positioning to be higher up the ladder. Remaining in SBC long term is playing not to lose. Usually that's how you lose.
