Are you trolling or being serious? This is also what people said when we didnt attempt to join C-USA. Turns out to be a WISE decision.

Hell, Oregon State baseball played independent this season because of the changed conference landscape, rather than joining Wash State in the MWC. Now they’re in the CWS.
This is still the MWC. The numbers will be interesting, but I'm not losing sleep with Texas St leaving, 2 winning seasons in football in the FBS Division.

10000% serious. Conference realignment decisions are made by the University President not the AD. Yes, it turned out to be a very wise decision; however, we got lucky as no one predicted how strong the league get. Should we lose 4-6 members to PAC and AAC, the SBC will never be anywhere close to what it is right now.

What if the "PAC" loses Wazzu, Oregon State and Boise to Big 12 in a few years. Would the Pac move seem like a good move?

C-USA would be leaps and bounds beyond what it is now if Louisiana had joined at first chance.

    SCB would have folded.

It wasn't a wise decision, it was an influential decision.

The spin is that things would have unfolded exactly like they did.

    That is a false premise.

In mid-90's we didn't swing for the fences to get into CUSA 1.0. Its true, CUSA membership was always a messy work in progress for 25 years until it fell apart then turned to FCS move ups to survive. PAC 12 is certain to become a membership work in progress, too. It might not last more than 10 years but you're positioning to be higher up the ladder. Remaining in SBC long term is playing not to lose. Usually that's how you lose.

What if by that time Louisiana moves with them?
