Barrett Jackson Auctions is a small but great example. There is no way a frame off restoration on an average meh 1950’s car makes money at 100k after transportation costs, climatized storage, insurance, maintenance and such, not to mention the original purchase and restoration costs.
Can apply this “hobby” to anything.

Good thing they did not fire him after his 6th year going 2-10 and having a 31-41 overall record and being 10 games under .500. They would have missed out on that cotton bowl win. Never know how close you are to go from losing to 23-3 with a cotton bowl win over USC and on the verge of another NY6. Kinda like Mike Norvel at FSU, crazy what happens when you don’t fire people after 2 years.
