Good thing they did not fire him after his 6th year going 2-10 and having a 31-41 overall record and being 10 games under .500. They would have missed out on that cotton bowl win. Never know how close you are to go from losing to 23-3 with a cotton bowl win over USC and on the verge of another NY6. Kinda like Mike Norvel at FSU, crazy what happens when you don’t fire people after 2 years.

I know I mean both programs had 10 win seasons and multiple championships from the previous coaching staff. All they had to do was maintain the momentum.. lol

Valid points. Michigan gave Jim a long leash too, had to get his spy network up apparently.

Yea all he had to do was rebuild his entire support staff (digital, recruiting, analysts, etc), a good bit of coaches, and try his best to retain talent as well as recruit without much support. How hard is it to just keep the momentum?

Well at the hire date nobody thought billy “I have Connections” Napier would need to raid his former SBC team to fill out an SEC staff. One would assume a program with 3 times the money could get a staff with better resumes right?

So your saying Dez had to be handed everything from the jump for it to be successful. Sounded like a great recruiting pitch.

Jmu has already came out and said they will not promote from within. They know Cig will come raid more players and coaches and decided to rip the bandaid off.
