Which receiver? We already know the name of the QB in the play.

Whoever was the outside WR on the play. I’m sure he was suppose to run a deep route up the sideline or deep post to pull the CB out of the play.

I wouldn't judge the receiver on the first play of the year.

Very fortunate for that defender to be out of position though.

Watch it again it was an underthrown ball and the DB jumped the route

unless it was suppose to be a hitch route

Bell was the WR the ball looked to be going to on the play. He looked to be running a deep out. Bradley was underneath on an out and I believe Smith was running a vertical.

It looked to be a levels concept but I couldn't tell you what their assignments should have been.

That's more or less what I saw as well. #7 Smith ran either a vertical or corner for the deep and was more or less not involved other than taking a safety with him. #4 Bradley on the short out was undercut and not open. #19 Bell, we just dont know if it was maybe supposed to be a comeback route possibly. That may have shielded the ball from the DB and possibly completed. If it was an out, then yeah, it was defended well and easily picked

Understood, but QB's film session should have been just as tough. Should have tucked it an ran. He has to see these things going forward.

I try to never place blame on an INT on QB or WR, because you never know what the assignment is and/or what the read is supposed to be. Sometimes it is very obvious but other times, as a fan we are kidding ourselves if we think we know what is supposed to happen on plays.

My biggest issue is that he didn't pull it down and run.

I think you are correct, but had it been executed properly he still threw the ball to the wrong shoulder. The ball have been thrown to the outside shoulder had the CB been cleared anyway. Poorly executed from the Wr's to the QB.
