Thread: 2019 Levi Lewis

The thing about Levi is that he has a great O line, has excellent receivers and super stud RBs to play with. Being around that greatness can sometimes make him look like the weakest link especially when you consider he touches the ball on every play. So those who have to complain usually end up complaining about him.

Levi's play has improved a lot and looks much more seasoned since that MSU game and I think it will continue to improve. His best throws are crossing routes over the middle and the coaches seem to be calling more plays to take advantage of this and staying away from the throws he struggles with.

I feel like he proved a lot of people wrong last night. Several RP posters have been dogging LL pretty bad this season.

Most of them have been noting [correctly] that Levi struggles with deep passes, and wondering why we did not run more plays utilizing his ability to accurately deliver passes in the LOS-15 yard range. The second, and by extension tne first, were addressed last night.

I have not seen anyone give a blanket statement that Levi is not good; just that he is not good at certain things, and we should avoid asking him to do those things. People have overreacted to that legitimate criticism.

I think it all depends on what people were dogging him on. He responded to my biggest concern, and that was being able to see receivers downfield and getting the ball to them. He pretty much did that all night, and the first question I asked myself was "where in the world has this been all year?"

I said it after his play against Georgia Southern, and I think Jay had mentioned it in another thread. This throws a wrench in game planning against our offense because now defensive coordinators have to plan against the pass and not just Run TMC. Hopefully, we can continue this trend next weekend against a struggling South Alabama team; and carry that momentum into Cajun Field in two weeks. The key factor will be consistency.

Agreed. I think it was CajunT that commented that some people here act as if LL is their son. He's not far off on that assumption.

He still struggled at times but made more good throws than bad which is all you can ask for

Good news Troy is worse than Costal at pass defense

I thought the NCAAF QBR had the same 153 scale as the NFL
You are thinking of Passer Rating, which is an entirely different stat from QBR.

And the NFL passer rating and college passer rating are also quite different.

I’m pretty sure many were predicting he’d have his way with the small DBs for Coastal. Additionally Coastal pass rush wasn’t very effective.

He had an outstanding game against a weak passing defense. Nothing wrong with doing what you’re supposed to.

I understand that USA is just plain bad, Troy has defensive issues and what will ULMost be playing for come November 30th!

I was thoroughly impressed with Levi last night. He was more poised in the pocket and less hesitant than I've ever seen him. He Located his receiver and threw it confidently over and over. Awesome game

To complete 26 of 30, you have to make a hell of a lot more good throws than bad. Granted the completion to the tight end near the goal line at the end of the first half was a poor throw. Can't think on any other completions that were poor.
