Thread: 2019 Levi Lewis

  1. Default Re: Levi Lewis

Billy called his best game of the year last night. Maybe best game of his young head coaching career. You could see the plan within the first 5 plays. Stretch them wide, wait for them to uncrowd the box, then pound the rock. Coastal decides to stick with its game plan and dare Levi to beat them over the middle.

Levi did that. He put the intermediate slants and skinnys on the money all night long. Of course a few were less than perfect, but if Lewis plays like that for the remainder of the year, we won’t lose another game. His footwork last night was outstanding.

He played like he knew what the defense was going to give him and gladly took it. It was, far and away, his best game of the year.

I have mentioned more than once to Turbine and others that every player out there is someone's son. I probably do sometimes take it the wrong way when players are criticized.

I feel like they are really young kids who work so hard and are out there trying their best and I need to defend them.

I would love to see Lannister do a performance review. “I realize you followed my directions to become our top salesman, but how did you lose that one account? Hopefully you can do better now that I’ve teed up a bunch of slam dunk leads for you.”

I have not seen anyone give a blanket statement that Levi is not good; just that he is not good at certain things, and we should avoid asking him to do those things. People have overreacted to that legitimate criticism.
Call me crazy, but when fans want a player replaced with a player no one has ever seen play, I would infer that the fans think the player is not good. Fans never want good players replaced

Coach has said more than once that Levi makes the right decision a high percentage of the time which is why he is the starter. Took the decision making and execution to another level last night.

What stood out to me about Levi's passing was how he WASN'T dropping back in the pocket. He would take the snap and stand there like a tree while laser focused on his primary target. He was either doing that or  ing to the outside. That was why he throwing darts most of the night. His movement and reading were kept to a minimum.

It was a great gameplan executed to perfection.

News alert, Levi is pretty darn good and will be back for a senior season next year.

Another news alert, he runs our offense pretty darn good.

Another news alert, we are 7-2 and will be 8-2 after next week and Levi is a very big part of the reason why.

Only Cajun Lannister has suggested Levi be replaced and his opinion on that front has probably changed now. Everyone else on this board has said that Levi should be the starter but has shortcomings. That is a fair assessment that Levi probably agrees with.

I have been wondering about that for a while. When he was a freshman he stated he would only be here for 3 years, long enough to graduate. Has he changed his mind?

A couple of other news alerts, the following young players are pretty special:

Neal Johnson Jr. Might be the best TE we have had since a guy named Ladarius Green.

Peter Leblanc is going to be good for a while. He is special.

O'Cyrus Torrence will start allot of games for UL on the OL in the future.

Lorenzo Mccaskall is only a Sophomore and if he can stay on the field he is really good.

Zi'yon Hill gets better and better each week, PS only a Sophomore

Kris Moncrief is Really Good, again a Sophomore

Percy Butler might be our best back end player (and PS he is a Sophomore)

Jalen Williams is starting to show how good he can be (still has another year next year)

Eric Garror is pretty good, oh yeah, just a Sophomore

Chris Smith will be a 1000 yard back at some point (Freshman)

Kam Pedescleaux is going to be a pretty good player (Freshman)

Jordan Quibodeaux is going to be a solid player for us in the future (just a Sophomore)

Kenneth Almendares can kick it through the end zone about a minimum of 50% of the time, he is a freshman.

Rhys Byrns will be an all conference punter by the end of his career, he is a Sophomore

Shane Vallot is a solid center and he was a walkon, he is currently a Sophomore

Max Mitchell might end up being the best OL on the team by his senior year (he is a Sophomore)

    Dalvin Hutchinson is good (Freshman)

Ja'Quane Nelson is really good (Sophomore)

I probably missed a ton of young players, but man this is exciting.
