Football officials from the University of Louisiana announced on Wednesday an agreement to a playing date against the University of Alabama for the 2018 season.
Count me in CajunNations camp. I like two P5 Games a year. I would not even be against 3 if one is at home or at a neutral site. Our home attendance does not change much regardless of the team scheduled. Most of our big crowds are due to the other team traveling well. Imho 5 or 6 homes games is all our fans can support at this time.
Going forward we need to play as many nationally televised games. P5 teams and the SEC in particular gives us that opportunity. If we can recruit better, maybe we can sneak out a win or two. If we are going to play D1football, let's play D1 OOC games. Looking forward to traveling to Tamu next year.
We should try to schedule teams like Miss St, Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, and Kansas anytime we can get a decent deal with them. That's how we could accumulate some wins over P5 competition. It ain't happening against A&M or Bama.
Anyone anytime anyplace is how you grow a program
Also, this scheduling happens far enough in advance that it's hard to predict when the P5 will have a down year and we will have an up year. So schedule a bunch and let the law of averages work for you.
Two or three of these games puts that exit fee money in the bank.....a win or two in these games only makes us more attractive to other conferences. There is more to it than just funding the program, if you have the right approach.
