Ragin' Cajuns will get $1.25 million to face defending national champions
I actually would have expected 1.5-2.0 million for Alabama. Maybe I'm just expecting high.
cmon pagin you're better than that. This is a great game for us
Two road big money games in the same year is lazy scheduling....period....
We'll get totally embarrassed at Alabama, but we get totally embarrassed at home by teams like Boise, Akron, and La Tech, so what the hell? We might as well get paid for our ___ whippings.
For the most part, upsetting an SEC team is a combination of the underdog playing its best football, and the favorite coming out flat, underestimating their opponent, etc. (LSUA&M usually does this, but turns it on before its too late).
Alabama doesn't play with its prey before it strikes. It viciously cuts its throat and stays on top of it for 60 minutes. The odds of an upset are slim to none (probably more on the none side). ULM got lucky and beat Saban in his first year there.
It would be nice to schedule less consistently good schools from the SEC (Vandy, Kentucky, etc.). I give Farmer a little bit of credit for Mississippi State and Ole Miss (although, we really should have gotten a home game from Mississippi State).
It's the mindset that I can't stand from our AD and athletic department. Their mentality is we are going to Alabama or any money game to simply get a check, we aren't going there to get paid to win. How do you ever sell the players on believing they can win if nobody around them believes it? This entire story is based on the 1.5 million, not the fact we are playing Bama. Our AD and everyone around him are so ingrained with accepting mediocrity it's like a disease. While beating Bama is sl to none, you will always fall on the none side of you believe you lost before you step off the bus. Our coach was healthy when he got here but I believe he has been infected.
Where's the big news headline like the one rolled out for the Arizona State game?
So if we do like we always do and lose to the SEC schools, especially Bama, how much crap will we hear from UL-Monroe because they have recent wins against SEC schools - including Bama?
