But there are also many factors like work, expense, and weather that preclude many fans from being able to attend certain Bowls. These things should be considered if there is a choice to be made. I'm happy that we will play in any bowl and even happier if it is one that I can attend.
I have reservations in Shreveport and NOLA.
None in Mobile....only two hours from my house on Northshore...
ESPN now has two new projections for the New Orleans Bowl
Mark Schlabach has us projected vs a current 5-5 Cal-Berkeley Team.
Brett McMurphy has us projected vs a current 5-6 Akron Team.
Cal has to finish with both Stanford and BYU. So it is possible that they are not bowl eligible at the end of the season, meanwhile Akron finishes with a horrendous Kent State team that is 1-9 and whose lone victory was vs Army.
Playing Akron would suck bad, especially since we have them at home next year.
Not sure how they figure a PAC12 school would be streamlined to NOLA Bowl, but if that works out to be the opponent, we should embrace that opportunity. While Cal may be a floundering P5 school, they are a P5 nonetheless, in the 2nd strongest football conference. We're still searching for that P5 win in the HUD era.
MWC has 6 tie ins. (Nola, NM, LV, Idaho, Poinsettia, Hawaii).
Currently 5 eligible (Nevada, Colo St, Boise St, Utah St, Air Force)
SDSU has to win 1 game out of 2 and should. Both ESPN guys have them getting in. Fresno and Wyoming both have to win their last 2 and aren't projected in.
That's 6 teams eligible.
Currently both ESPN guys have Boise St getting the Access bowl and going to Fiesta Bowl and no other MWC teams getting bowl eligible, so that's 5 for the 6 tie ins and 1 team for the access game. So even though they have 6 teams for 6 tie ins, they'd be short.
