All I know is I already have my room booked for the Dec 20th weekend in N.O. And many people I know do as well. And hotels are filling up fast. I know some are already completely booked. Of course the Saints game is contributing to that as well.
I think right now most people are counting on the NO Bowl and are just hoping for a good opponent. Unless the mobile bowl was an absolute fantastic matchup I don't see how anyone, athletic dept/university admin included, would choose Mobile over N.O. The school would rather see another 50K attendance in N.O. than roll the dice and have a disappointing attendance in mobile. If the hope is to get into a bigger bowl next year ... just continuing to pack the superdome and have one of the top non-bcs bowls for attendance still bodes the best to make that happen.

I'm still at the point that I see nothing better to be had by Indy, GoDaddy or Camellia over New Orleans. We may sell our allotment, but are you using as your primary (or only) argument that we need to prove we can travel as well (or close) to some bowl other than NO? I actually think we need to keep that mystery alive until we do get considered for another conference.
People can argue that the only reason we do so well at the NO Bowl is the proximity and our love of New Orleans... but again... let's leave that as conjecture... until we have a substantially better bowl to invade. I believe we have as much of a chance of not traveling significantly well to one of these other bowls... as we do traveling well enough to impress people.
The only thing that trumps any other bowl available to us right now over New Orleans... is a much better opponent. And I just do not believe that is going to happen... or will be known in time to make that delayed decision count in our favor.
There is a reason the Super Bowl has been in New Orleans more than any other city.
...and those reasons are why I would rather go to the NO Bowl instead of the GoDaddy or Camellia.
We should just schedule no P5 games from here on out.

Look at Marshall's schedule. They ran the table.
G5 is guaranteed one spot in the CFB Selection Committee bowls. They will get it without playing anyone.
Who cares to schedule those big games, when you can get a slot for playing no one.
I agree. They should not reward Marshall for that schedule. This will open up a can of worms for all G5 teams if they see that Marshall gets rewarded for playing no one…
