He had a call this evening and Foote answered it. The caller seemd to imply that the paper was covering for the university since it wasn't in the sports section. (Iguess he thinks threee days in a row on the front page is a cover-up.) The caller used the analogy of the younger Schapp's reporting causing the Alabama coach (Price, I assume) to loose his job and suggested the Advertiser was doing the opposite and covering up by not running this in the sports section so as not to cause Lee to loose his job. Real good cover-up there, huh? Anyway, Foote answered that it was a decision by the editors that this story was of broader interest than just sports so they decided to run it on the front page.Originally Posted by CDeb
There may have been more questions but I didn't hear much of the 6-7 hour.
Has the Advocate published anything regarding this BS? I haven't seen anything on the website...Could it be that they have more respect for our University than our very own local paper?

KATC did a really good job tonight of laying out the time line of events.
I have been up since 2am so I can't recall all the details, but it made perfect sense that UL did nothing wrong.
ps Goodnight![]()
KATC did a nice job of putting out the UL version, now we have 2 - don't drink the kool aid folks. The administration has been talking out of both sides of their mouths - it is quite obvious why Nelson has legal training and is not working as a lawyer - he contradicts himself in every public statement that involves some sort of pressure.
The interesting issues from the NCAA schedule of interviews that ("did not occur on our campus") or ("I was not involved in") or ("I couldnt talk about it if I was there") from Nelson's desk included extended 1 1/2 hour sessions for our transfers from 2 seasons ago, and 2 hour sessions for Anthony Rhodman who needed extra hours to be eligible, and Orien Greene who needed @17 hours last summer to be eligible.
I just dont get it.
I just hope if/when coach Lee and the Cajuns are finished with this the Advertiser still thinks it is "of broader interest" and Runs the vindication articles(3) about how it is not good reporting when you TRY to MAKE news on SOMEONE ELSES REPUTATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Originally Posted by Hammer58

Tracking the Advertiser's ventricosed story
| Sunday | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday |The University of Louisiana can expect to find out within six months whether its men's basketball program will face NCAA penalties or more questions about allegations made by former recruit Berry Jordan.
Kent Barrett, the NCAA's assistant director of public and media relations, said the school will be updated in coming months on what actions the NCAA is planning to take.
"We don't comment on investigations in progress, and I don't know where we are in the process (with UL's case). Our bylaws require that in six months we let the school know 'this is where we currently stand and what point we are at in the investigation.' "
Jordan, who signed with UL from Kilgore College in 2004, said coach Robert Lee paid for him to attend summer school at Florida Community College in Jacksonville, Fla., and that twice he received payments of $150 each from the coaching staff.
He also said the staff provided a bus ticket to his hometown of Jacksonville.
