A basketball player recruited by the University of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball program confirmed Saturday that he has turned in information regarding possible recruiting violations to the NCAA.

Berry Jordan, a 6'8" forward from Jacksonville, Fla., says that he received benefits in summer 2004 from current Cajuns head coach Robert Lee. The Cajuns began recruiting Jordan while Jesse Evans was still head coach.

Jordan was attempting to transfer to UL from Kilgore College in Texas. He was in summer school at Florida Community College.

"Coach Lee paid for me to take classes during the summer," Jordan said. "He paid for my summer school, my books and he gave me $150 twice. I also received a bus ticket."

Jordan said that he informed Cajuns Athletic Director Nelson Schexnayder of the benefits he received from Lee and that Schexnayder said he would "turn it in to the NCAA himself."

"I talked to him (Schexnayder) face-to-face," Jordan said. "I told him everything that was going on and he said that he would turn it in to the NCAA himself, because this was serious. The next day, we had a meeting with coach Lee, but basically it seemed as if he (Schexnayder) agreed with him. He told me that I had to leave."

The NCAA rules state that players "may not receive any benefit, inducement or arrangement such as cash, clothing, cars, improper expenses, transportation, gifts or loans to encourage you to sign or attend."

Jordan said he went to the NCAA late last year "in November or December." The NCAA does not comment on ongoing investigations.

I don't understand the purpose of this character...If true, why would you attempt to hurt someone who was trying to help you???

My first thought was "I don't think Coach Lee would be that crazy."

    Hope there's nothing to it.

His character is exactly why he was asked to leave this program. But when it's all said and done, there may be a few minor violations in relation to offseason workouts. We will just have to wait until the investigation is complete. But I wouldn't be too concerned about his allegations.

Some goofballs thought Lee's tough discipline would be a good thing. I'm here to tell you people are soft and can't take discipline anymore.

Some of us goofballs feel the same way. Lee had no control over Jordan being signed. Now he does! Now let's see what happens before you make such a statement!

Oh by the way, the program had it's highest g.p.a. this past semester in a long time. But it had nothing to do with discipline right?

Hey why you jumping on me? I think discipline is a good thing. I'm just telling you people are soft these days and this sort of childish behavior can be expected when they run into a disciplinarian.

Maybe it had to do with calling people that like discipline a goofball. If it was sarcasm, then I missed the joke, my bad.

Look no further than Glenn Cyprien. His court case against ULL is baseless, this is his last ditch effort to get back at the University for his own failings. If you followed his court case at Nevada a recruit accused him of paying him there, so I have no doubt he is paying Jordan to do this.
