Thread: New Softball Facility Coming

  1. Default Re: Softball facility

If we get the old Lourdes Hospital---we can put the monorail starting at Cajun Field and run by the frat and sorority houses---go down to Blackham and left to Lourdes go to Johnson(I know it is Louisiana Avenue Turbine) and to a staging area on the South end of Campus---My idea 25 years ago--Surely Charlie Boy can get us some of Obama's free money!!!!!

    UL Softball Re: Softball facility

Leave the current ladies field, and build a massive new grandstand for the ladies. Take down the current baseball and Tennis facility and put parking right there for softball. Move the tennis teams to........ well, let's just take down the old tennis complex!

What many people do not know is that Mr. Lamsen put a state of the art drainage system in for the ladies. The field is first class; it is the grand stand that looks division II.

Some of you might be engineers. Could the current bleacher type stands at Lamsen Park be given to local high schools? I think they are the style that can be taken apart.

Why donate to high schools? There are enough needs around the complex to keep those stands here if Softball is not going to use them.

  5. Default Softball Facilities

At the series against Troy, I overheard some fans discussing the new softball facility. One fan stated that she heard that UL was going to raze Lamson Field to the ground and completely rebuild it with new locker facitlities, press box, dugouts, etc. The other fan said that she heard that Lamson Field was just going to be remodeled with covered seating and such be added. Does anybody out there know exactly what is scheduled to be done to Lamson Field?

Also, does anybody have any idea how this will effect season ticket prices. I have a box and I assume that what I pay for season tickets will go up, maybe even substantially.

I've personally heard the remodel idea, but i dont think you should take my word for it, i have no connections to the higher ups at UL, just a student.

Go and speak with Scott Farmer as I did and he will show you the plans for the field. It is going to be a remodel and should begin after this season.

It is scheduled to be a remodel of the current park with some very nice additions. I'm hoping in the next couple of weeks to do a story on the future of Lamson and try to tie it into the NCAA regionals.

Hopefully, we'll be able to get artist's renderings and such to illustrate the story and show people what's coming.

I also heard that it will be remodeled. I would imagine that they will focus on the press area so that they would have a better chance of hosting regionals and super-regionals in the near future.

Go and see the drawings with Scott Farmer. They are beautiful.

By the way, they will do the same thing with The Tigue.
