They will be a doormat in that conference..if the PAC didn’t have to have 8 football teams they wouldn’t be going anywhere.

    It matters what Louisiana does.

Louisiana has been stuck in neutral for going on 50 years.

Since going major in basketball over 50 years ago, and football being an original D1 member, they have become comfortable being a welcome mat for FCS schools.
Besides the 24-25 athletic year, I would not call being ranked in all big 4 sports at one time or another in the national polls multiple years in a row stuck in neutral.

    "Its the conference"

Louisiana did what they did in spite of the conference, not because of the conference.

Which is why, once upon a time, I lobbied for indepenance, but this was before the P4 existed and before they went to 9 conference games.

Stuck in reverse since basketball joined the majors.

Except they hired a university president an AD who were set on succeeding in athletics. That was what 3 years ago and they have positioned themselves to join the PAC.

Now add UTSA, UL, Tulane and Memphis. Would it be a better deal for us?

Having 4 conference mates in the same time zone and driving distance would definitely change the scenario. Being 1700 miles from the closest conference member outside of Texas state just doesn’t make sense to me, for the program..this isn’t just football.

Zero sense. People forget when our administration decided to stay in the SBC years ago based on being in a regional conference. They almost hung Scott Farmer, but we all know that was the best forward looking decision ever made for UL. Look at the SBC now.

Why do people keep insisting Texas State got the invite because they just wanted it more? That’s not what happened.

I don’t know what you guys are talking about. Texas State just won two Bubas Cups in a row!
