Some years ago SBC Commissioner Gill openly stated he wanted more emphasis on basketball. Certainly he meant what he said, but not much has changed. I was hopeful by now of the SBC becoming at least a 2-bid conference but there's no signs of the conference breaking out beyond its single three days in March auto-bid Marlin prophecy.
Unfortunately, I don't ever seeing the SBC being more than one-bid league. Having a new coach at the caliber of Quannas White tells me that we aren't looking to just win 3 games in March AND if we do win those three games, we'll never be better than a 13 seed. Being a Cinderella in the NCAA is great and great pub for the university; however, that just means no one had faith in you. Eventually you want to get to a point where you are expected to compete and win rather than being the BIG underdog.

More bids from the NCAA Tournament means more games played by the conference and therefore bigger payouts to the league to it's schools. Gonzaga and SDSU going to the Final Four could easily help us offset our travel for future season.

What are the "Rumors" about the UL System?

Based on many comments thru the years, BB and SB are breakeven sports of us. If we have more "bad seasons" like this past year, I doubt we breakeven with those 2. Football and Basketball can be (very) profitable if we get better crowds. If in the PAC, we will undoubtedly put more butts in seats with their teams than where we stand in the Belt. And, that would be the same for MBB.

If we moved to the PAC, it's not ideal for damn sure, but I worry we'll be here, sitting around when the next re-alignment occurs and hoping for the best rather than being proactive and seeing what we can do today to change perceptions. I can't say what's best for our program because I/We don't have access to the numbers. So, I really don't know which way we should go, but we (this administration) should have done everything in our power take a deep dive into the details to make an informed decision. A decision which should be shared, with details, to all of us that put our hard earned money into these programs buying seats, doing NIL donations, funding the suit-em-up program for football like I do every year. Having season tickets in 4 sports etc. etc.

I'm 1 foot away from staying home and watching our teams play on the streaming channels. I can still participate in tailgating, then head home for the game. I'll be 70 in August...it won't take much to push me home instead of being the stands. So much of our current fan base is older and we are in need of a PERCEPTION change to make new, younger fans!
    Thanks Rick,

Great conversation on the phone. We are fishing in the same pond, great catching up with you.

Maybe a audit going on? That's what my friend in Arkansas told me.

Oh, if I were a betting man, they’re trying to look DOGE-like to find money for UNO in order to justify keeping UNO “in their place” and out of the LSU system.

Or our prez is a Blanco/dem guy and it seems the governor is purging people of that leaning. Even LSU’s former president Tate said as much once he landed at Rutgers.

    Both make for great speculation.
