You can’t expect serious support without a serious plan. Alumni aren’t going to throw money at mediocrity — they respond to purpose, ambition, and progress.
If the vision would be to raise the budget and position the program for an invite to a major conference, then say that. Set the goal — and the money will follow.
It's always depressing seeing others at least try to raise their Athletics Brand while we just sit on our hands wasting time.
I really believe the main issue is political, more than it is money. It's having the will and fortitude to press forward even with political pressure from the east.
The reason we don't see anything is because our leaders, in order to get other things they want accomplished and receive credit for is to not pursue bigger aspirations in Athletics.
Imagine if they ever beat us in football. The SEC might come calling.
Proof positive it matters not how good you are at sports.
This.
Look, I have doubts the PAC12 would be a correct move for us. I have doubts if it’s correct for Texas State.
That said, and I know I’ve said it here before, it must be nice to have a university President who at least is enthusiastic about pushing your school’s athletic brand and being proactive with it. That’s what their President has been. Last summer the all out athletic promotions and booster encouragement in San Antonio and Austin was probably more than we’ve done outside of Lafayette Parish the past five summers combined.
