I saw this on the CSNBBS board. UL is getting less from the SBC ($1.9M) than the other conference teams listed. We aren't even matching the top CUSA and MAC teams, according to this.

G5 Conference Payouts - will the PAC Do Better?
The AAC generated $147.7M in fiscal 23-24 with distributions as follows:

    Memphis ($11 million)
    Tulane ($10.8 million)
    SMU ($10.4 million)
    South Florida ($10.3 million)
    Temple ($9.7 million)
    East Carolina ($9.7 million)
    Tulsa ($9.6 million)
    Navy ($7.3 million)
    UTSA ($4.9 million)
    Rice ($4.8 million)
    Florida Atlantic ($4.3 million)
    UAB ($4.3 million)
    Charlotte ($4.3 million)
    North Texas ($4.2 million)
    Wichita State ($3.3 million)

MWC distributed $92M with Boise getting $8.2 (highest)
CUSA distributed $49.9 with Liberty getting $6.4 (highest)
SBC distributed $47M with Louisiana getting $1.9M
MAC distributed $39M with Toledo getting $3.1M

These distributions do not represent total school athletic revenues but are as reported from federal tax forms by the conferences.

Knee jerk today will be costly tomorrow. The Rustonians proved that with the WAC. When all that plays out, is it worth being in the situation L A Tech is in today?

No. It's just musical chairs on a sinking ship. We missed our chance to take chances in the 90s and early 00s. It's too late, the haves and have nots demarcation line is established and will only be moved upwards to further refine the "haves."

Check with Maggard, that is inaccurate. But hey, because it was stated in the CSNBBS board it's fact? Ridiculous!

Facts would help in this discussion.

Here is one fact. The best chance for any G-5 to make NCAA money is in men's basketball. With Gonzaga, Utah State, SDSU, Boise, Colorado State and possibly New Mexico, the PAC is about 10,000 times more likely than the SBC to earn multiple NCAA tournament units in any given year. Plus the benefit of having home conference games with those schools rather than SBC schools would help basketball revenues significantly; not to mention basketball recruiting.

It boggles my mind how married some people are to go along with whatever Martin Hall wants to do, which is always nothing in regards to realignment.

The SBC West is probably going to be our forever home. They like it here. No pressure. No expectations. No effort needed.

Wise to bring up men's basketball impact. Based upon last season, new PAC 12 = 4 bids; based upon 2024= 5 bids. AAC has fallen off since losing teams to the B12. Pulled in 2 bids in 2024, only one last season going to Memphis. New PAC 12 will obviously be stronger men's basketball conference compared to other G6s.

Some years ago SBC Commissioner Gill openly stated he wanted more emphasis on basketball. Certainly he meant what he said, but not much has changed. I was hopeful by now of the SBC becoming at least a 2-bid conference but there's no signs of the conference breaking out beyond its single three days in March auto-bid Marlin prophecy.
