Out of Conference Scheduling

I dont disagree at all.... my main issues (as always some woudl say) is with this constant drum beat from the wrong side of the Atchafalaya that USC plays a soft schedule... again... not so fast my friend

Washington is in the pac-10 so thats a wash. While looking at the non conference schedule you can see USCs is harder. However take into account that LSU plays 1 extra non conference game and a possible sec championship game and it makes LSUs schedule ALOT harder.

Nobody will disagree with you that LSU's SEC schedule is brutal. Thats a given. But, this is the problem with BCS football. Every game is looked at as a "playoff." These big programs are way to afraid of losing the big money they have become accustomed to. The NCAA, aka nutless wonder, lets the BCS programs get away with murder. What put SMU into Death Penalty territory, is exactly what every big program is doing today and getting away with it because of revenue. Recruiting is getting to be who pays more and gets my parents better jobs, while small schools scoop up the dregs left behind. Forget Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, and all the other roided out freaks who robbed baseball of their respect, lets go after the NCAA and Myles Brand for pimping these young athletes.

I think its cute you have to type a&m@br in every post instead of typing LSU but give the big boys their credit. The SEC is far and away the best conference in football. Its not even close. USC is favored to win EVERY pac-10 game they play. Some by 40+ points. Don't let you hate for LSU get in the way of the SEC's brutal schedule. If Florida, Tenn, Alabama, LSU etc etc etc make it through their schedule with 1 lost and there is only 1 undefeated BCS school.. then the SEC is playing for the title and more than likely favored.

Nebraska could well win the SBC title in 2009.

I would say them and Troy have to be the favorites, but Troy would probably have the edge. This relegates nebraska to the Memorandum of Understanding Bowl, though. They might not be too happy about that finish.

I completely agree. The SEC is a tough conference -- there's no question about that. As for USC making it in the SEC...that's a toss-up. I still think that their defense would not be able to stand up to the rigors of the SEC schedule. That being said, I think they'd have more success in the West than in the East.

As for UL's OOC, thats great and all, but you have to win your conference. It's a fine line -- play too tough out of conference, and you may hurt morale and your team's chances at a great season; play too weak and the team's not ready to go come conference time. I don't envy this part of the coaching position, as a lot of weight is put on scheduling every year.

On any given year USC would do the same thing in the SEC that they do in the PAC 10. Lose one game to an opponent and crush all opponents that are considered on par with them talent wise. They are built for the big game and always have a let down game.
