quick analysis of the top RPI conference in the country... 5 of the top 6 teams in the SEC have lost multiple conference series. It's just part of being in a more competitive conference. Also, looking at the scores (can't say for sure because I didn't watch), it seems that some of those top teams had "meltdowns" at the plate and/or the mound in those series.

Do want to add that I'm not saying we haven't played poorly in the Coastal and Troy series. It's just unrealistic to be on fire like we were for that long. There's going to be a lull and I'm glad that we were a) in the position to weather the storm and b) this wasn't in postseason where we just completely ____ the bed and go home.

Yep. Thats college baseball. I really wish some Cajun fans would spend some time watching other programs and follow what goes on around the country.

Also, some of the SEC parks are VERY hitter friendly. Alabama’s is embarrassingly small (320 lines, 360 alleys, 390 center). We all know how the ball flies in BR, the prevailing wind in College Station is strong and out to left center. And there are others. Not SEC, but check out the dimensions at Wake Forest (310 to LF, 300 to RF)

Mix that with elite talent hitting, COLLEGE pitchers that struggle to throw strikes at times (this happens in EVERY program) and you get pitching “meltdowns”

Also, for those with the pitchforks wanting to cancel the rest of the season and saying this Cajuns team is a fraud, the guys at D1Baseball, who are the top of the mountain as far as covering college baseball goes, have the Cajuns ranked #22 in the country this morning. Troy is #21

Totally understand getting beat/losing to good teams.. or to anyone in baseball. Ground balls between your legs, horrendous base running and terrible approach at the plate is much different. Pitching didn’t look anything like the other 40 plus games and I get those offenses and parks do that to people. We looked like a different team against coastal and Troy. Those are the types of teams you are going to see in regional.

Coastal, Troy, Southern Miss and Louisiana... arguably the top programs in the belt. Here's how we all fared against each other:

Coastal: W 2/3 Against UL (home), Swept by Troy (home) and USM (road)
Troy: W 2/3 Against UL (home), L 2/3 to USM (road), Swept Coastal (road)
USM: W 2/3 Against Troy (home), L 2/3 to UL (road), Swept Coastal (home)
UL: W 2/3 Against USM (home), L 2/3 to Troy (road) and Coastal (road)

The only road series win was Troy going to Coastal and sweeping.

Now look at the rest of the results:

Coastal: Lost series to App and haven't swept a weekend
Troy: Lost a series to USA and only swept stAte
USM: Lost series to both GA schools and swept Marshall
UL: Dropped first game to stAte and then ran off a series win and 4 additional sweeps

We've lost 1 game to the rest of the conference while the others are losing series.

All said and done, we have a 2 game lead with 6 to play because we took care of business early. Going to Troy and to Coastal are no easy tasks. The timing of the series with us cooling off didn't help. Regardless, we didn't get swept. Look at the 4 above resumes without the emotion attached, I'll take ours over the rest.

Time to go to Statesboro and take at least two and then come home to a rowdy crowd for SouthAlSucks week and take the regular season championship.

We looked like a different team against Coastal and Troy for about 3 innings. It’s not ok the melt for 3 innings of play separated by weeks of playing.

Haha. No drama. I watch every pitch of every Cajuns game, but I also watch a ton of other college baseball, and know what the college game is. And that good teams lose games to other good teams (and some to teams that aren’t good) and sometimes those losses are ugly. It just is what it is, and I happen to be pretty rational as a fan, while keeping more focus on the big picture.

And I enjoy friendly ribbing with the irrational fans on here, while trying to help them keep some things in perspective.

And that good teams lose games to other good teams (and some to teams that aren’t good) and sometimes those losses are ugly. Me 2. I watched baseball and softball all week long and every Cajun's game. If there is not a Cajun's game on, then I find some other game to watch.

It is amazing what is found here in every sport. No other college sports message boards have anything on the fans of this board when it comes to irrational behavior.
