Jackson state beat miss valley state 13-8 last night. It was the regular Sunday game due to weather.

A win tonight over Jackson State would provide the Cajuns a modest bump in RPI of .00147 . enough to move up one spot in the RPI rankings (as they stand now and all other things being equal).

This is an example of a low risk/modest reward from the RPI perspective. Despite Jackson State having an RPI ranking of 269 (out of 305 schools), their 26-16 record actually increases the Cajuns' SOS (slightly) by .00026. Couple this with a win and you have a modest bump in RPI. If it were a road win, the RPI jump would be an additional .00106 . for a total of .00253.

This is also an example where playing a team like #269 Jackson State helps your RPI more than playing certain teams ranked 100 spots higher . or more.

Thanks for doing these. Something that seems like it should be simple(mathematical ranking of teams in a sport where EVERYTHING is reduced to a number) is basically quantum mechanics.

It's a wonder they're not using derivative calculus.

Hear that. Cajuns need to focus on the W tonight and nothing else.

Not sure if there is an RPI metric for what we did in that other mid-week debacle, just don't let it happen again. We're warming up.

    47 Troy host Bama
    48 Oregon off this week
    49 Auburn at GTech
    50 Cajuns host JSU

These are the teams in front of us. We obviously want Troy to beat Bama to boost our rpi and theirs. Auburn losing to GT would be fine but Auburn is not a threat to dance with 4 conference wins.

Edit that. Didn’t notice Georgia tech is 46 rpi now so we would like Auburn to win.
