I watch nearly every Texas A&M game (a couple guys in my group are Aggies from Lafayette) quite a few Wake Forest games just because I became a fan of the team they had last year. I’ve watched some Kentucky games (guy in the group is a UK guy) and I also watch other Sun Belt games that are interesting.
I’ve watched Wright St play a couple times recently just to see what they look like now, random non-LSU SEC games (I hate LSU baseball more than anything in the world), mostly Georgia and Florida to watch Charlie Condon and Jac Caglione. And a few Tulane games because of relationships with parents of a couple of their players. Oh, and I watched quite a bit of the Lamar/La Tech series. Wanted to see Lamar (they’re good) and to see what Tech looked like at the time…they’re also pretty good.
I’ll also check out some random games just to see some ballparks I haven’t seen before. There are some really nice yards at places you wouldn’t expect. And some that are truly an embarrassment to call a Division 1 park (as you mentioned). I haven’t paid much attention to the Big 12 this year but have in the past. And outside of regional games at Oregon St and Stanford (and when A&M played USC and Arizona St earlier this season) I don’t pay any attention at all to the west coast. Although now that UCSB debuted in the top 25 this week, and UC-Irvine apparently is very good, I’ll probably try to watch each of those teams sometime in the near future if I am able to.
Last thing, do yourself a favor and watch some of the Ivy League. The top of that conference plays good baseball. And with the crazy rules they have, you’ll see some of the better players at big time programs next year. Example, A&M’s current 4 and 6 hole hitters were stars last year in the Ivy League last year, but no longer eligible to play in that league. And A&M has at least one guy playing up there now that is committed to them for next season, and has been since before this year began. I know that sounds bizarre, but that’s how they choose to run their conference.
I just love the game. Always have. When I’m not watching college baseball, it’s MLB. My kids are now grown so I have a lot of time on my hands these days!![]()
I get it, it doesn’t feel good. But instead of being 1-9, we are 4-6 in that stretch.
Teams that play tough find ways to win when they probably shouldn’t. I’m sure everyone will agree the last two seasons under Napier were the two best in Ragin Cajun football history. We went 23-2. Two Top 16 finishes.
11 of those wins were one score games, including a 3 point win over NICHOLLS.
In 2020, after the win at Iowa State, we went 3-1. The total margin for those three wins was 10 points.
The 2015 Baseball team that made it to the Supers @ LSU basically had to win the SBC tournament in order to even make a Regional. They had 34 wins in the regular season. This year’s team is already at that number, and the SBC looks to be stronger than 9 years ago. In 2015, we were the only Belt team to make a Regional. Coastal did make it out of the Big South.
This board does not want to read this article (at least some of this board). First, it discusses how not only is the season not over, but that the Cajuns are in a strong position to snag an at-large bid given the two-game lead in conference with two weekends remaining. They actually control their own destiny.
It also discusses how Louisiana is loaded with quality arms, which we all know is not true.
Fitt ...
"In the two games I attended this weekend, it was very obvious that Louisiana is loaded with more quality arms than it has had in years, even despite allowing eight runs in Saturday’s loss and 13 more in Sunday’s win. Superstar stopper LP Langevin wasn’t his best Saturday, and Troy beat him, but very few pitchers in the country can match his stuff, particularly from his low slot. And UL trotted out a bunch more good arms on Sunday, from sinkerballer Blake McGehee to power righty Jack Martinez to lefty Blake Marshall to righties Carson Fluno, JT Etheridge, Holzhammer and Christie. All of them have real stuff and feel for pitching, and it’s easy to see why Louisiana entered Saturday ranked 13th in the nation in ERA. Don’t read too much into the 14-13 score; this pitching staff is legit."
Deggs ...
“It’s the most arms that have been here in a long time, and it predates me, even my first time here [from 2012-14], we didn’t have what we have. Even when we were No. 1 in the country, we might have won the whole thing if we had had a couple of these guys,” Deggs said. “[Pitching coach] Gunner [Leger]’s done a great job. He’s been a huge pickup for us. We’ve got the arms that it takes, we’ve just got to cut out the silliness, and credit them too, they stayed in the strike zone.”
I mean ... who can read this nonsense.
Then, if that is not enough, the article covers the disciplined Troy offense that ranks second in the nation in walks, how they are difficult to contain, and how opposing pitchers must be exceptionally sharp to beat them ... and how they are especially tough in this ballpark.
Nope. Nothing to see here.
Well, I did like the accolades for Debo ... described by Fitt as the most talented player in the Sun Belt ... and a marquee talent at the plate and in the field.

LFG.
Post season is all about who is hot, always has been in college, professional baseball and other sports.
The 2014 Ole Miss team was 12-8 in their last 20 games including 1-2 in the SEC tourney, before hosting a regional. They then won three straight in Oxford, came here and took two of three from us. They were not a national seed but got to the semi-finals in Omaha and came in third. They had a good team obviously, but got better at the end.
Oh and that Fitt guy need to get his eyes checked![]()
