Sometimes, I think the acceptable window of emotional expression is a thin ribbon on this site. For all of the "sippers" of the infamous k-aid, there is always someone equal to the task of limiting anyone's "giddyness". I don't disagree with you Zephyr... but gee... we have had our share of negative dumped in our Cajun fan laps... Walker's Mamou commiting is a welcome reprieve in my opinion... and Daigle's 32 foot buzzer beater sure didn't hurt.

I take a whole different look at Walker, as opposed to looking at what happened with Deon Wallace. Our best skill contributors have been some local kids who love playing in front of us Cajuns fans. I think Walker will be another. I'm excited about what he might stir up in the years to come. Nothing against Chery as a return man... but Walker is much more prototypical of a good return specialist. This is a very good commitment. Very, very good.

Does that mean the scholarship counts against next year's 25 limit?

I think the kid at Oregon State that ran all over USC and had an overall great year was about the same size. Walker will put on weight and strength. I'm not worried about his height. Seen too many good running backs that were that short.

Good call, Jaquizz Rodgers is his name I believe. Most of the big schools would not even offer him because of his size. Lets hope that Walker proves everyone wrong the way Rodgers did. Does anyone know if part of the commitment was enhanced by a possible unspoken (or spoken) promise that Walker would not redshirt and would play his freshman year?

No promise was made for playing his freshman season. He was told he would be given a fair opportunity to compete for playing time.

BTW, a little trivia concerning Jaquizz Rodgers. What Houston area prep player was named, "Houston Football Player of The Year" over Yobes Walker?

Jaquizz is a little short, but he played at 198 lbs.

this guy was recruited by Butch Davis at UNC. Thats saying something. Especially considering that they will finish in the top 3 in the country in recruiting..

low center of gravity is an advantage in all sports ---it really helps the quick cuts that are the trademarks of so many great backs---D. Hilliard of the Saints had this plus massive thighs that added to the cutting ability!!!!

I may be wrong, but I believe the staff agrees with you to the extent that Walker is viewed as a 'Chery' rather than a 'Fenroy'. We already have three young [potential] Fenroys in Yobes Walker, Draylon Booker and Julian Shankle. Shankle averaged nearly 6 YPC last year in limited duty, and both Walker and Booker were studly on scout teams.

We don't HAVE a 'Chery' type player on the curent roster. Rob Walker potentially fixes that problem.
