While I agree everything falls on your shoulders...you cannot micromanage every single aspect of the game. You have to have some level of trust in the coaches you have on staff. If you don't trust the coaches then they should not be on your staff.

This is all true but are you suggesting he doesn't trust his coaches? The original point made was that he needs to let Lucas fix the defense. I don't have a problem with Hud interjecting because its Lucas' defense that is in disarray. He's the guy putting the personnel on the field and making these calls. If I was the head coach, I'd start with review of him and work down to the personnel and such. Whatever Lucas is doing is not working at this point.

2 things, 1)people keep taking about replacing otha peters but some never mention lightfoot who was actually the leading tackler, hard to replace one of those guys much less 2. Also, I believe because of the sudden insert of lucas they took it week by week and kept it simple. New guys at LB, more "complex" schemes and a year worth of film now. Hopefully he can turn it around to just be decent because we will be able to score points in conference.

Is it possible that Lucas' defense is in disarray because Hud interjecting?

Peters and Litefoot didn't leave as juniors. The staff did a poor job of getting developing replacements.

I totally agree!! Lucas and the defensive staff should pull all the film they can on the Colts when they had Peyton Manning. Their defense was always bad, but they had just enough to win the shootouts. Not ideal, but you work with what you got!

Or the 2009 Saints...not great but got turnovers when they needed.

They have been in FBS for 3 years and have 2 double digit win seasons. Give them a few more years and they will be closer to Boise state than we are to them now. The fact that they stepped in this conference and owned it and us is exactly the problem. They don't accept excuses.

Foote say for the umpteenth time "This Saturday is a NON-GAME! UL Doesn't play a REAL game til next week!" Was Nicholls told last Saturday was a "non-game"?? Was AppSt told Michigan was a
"non-game" when they WON at the Big House?? Not to mention South Al winning at MissSt last year!!

It's funny, the fact that Nicholls damn-near won last Saturday was the worst thing that could've happened for the folks tasked with keeping expectations low----the "you can't judge US by how THEY did" mantra has been on full display all this week!

Maybe one day in the future, UL fans and supporters will be able to have expectations beyond
being able to "compete" in the Sunbelt.......
