Yep, I hate to see anyone lose their job but Hud has made enough money as Louisiana Football Coach.

Every season his teams are becoming more and more unprepared, poorly coached, undisciplined, and just not good....at all.

This is a fallacy expressed by most college football fan bases, which is why coaches get fired with a winning record. Everybody thinks they have the best facilities, recruiting bases and are unrealistic about their current talent. UL's budget ranks 9th in the SBC. That doesn't transcend into the best of much and it sure want attract the attention of more prestigious conferences. If UL wants to separate themselves from the SBC, maybe they should concern themselves with revenue generation rather than trying to separate with all the pseudo name game nonsense. Taking responsibility for yourself and discontinue blaming others for your shortcomings also helps.

UL does have the biggest football budget in the SBC, been documented by numbers in many threads. Still the only SBC team with an IPC and not many in G5. The APC is not only tops in the SBC, it's among the tops in G5 and most P5 teams.

Football team was putting a few people in the stands, economy was much better. Now we have an AD working his butt off to increase the value of athletics, increase our brand, increase fan experience, and trying to improve this place but he's doing it with a bad product on the field, and in a down economy. I truely believe these things go hand in hand and he wil put our program on the map again

You won't need $2MM to cover the buyout and the new coaching staff salary. You just need to cover the buyout. A new coach's salary will have to be paid regardless, so the money is there through current RCAF donations and university funds. We'd very likely get a new coach in the $600K-$750K range, so there would be cost savings there.

Update: The buyout for firing Hud as of 12/31/2017 is $1.5MM.

Further update: University has the option to pay the full buyout within 60 days of letting Hudspeth go OR they can make the payments in monthly installments until the end of his contract (December 31, 2020).

Not directed at you lifetime, but everyone keeps talking about economy.. Look, what we need to do is be relevant and keeping good relationships with our supporters so that when the economy does come back, we can take off again. I don't necessarily buy the economy excuse, but for the sake of argument, being at odds with the fanbase will only retard the comeback YET AGAIN.

Build while we wait, stay in supporter's good graces, and when the markets come back, explode on to the scene.
