When he visited UL's campus two weeks ago, Chris Richard got a good vibe. In fact, the Destrehan senior liked it so much he's decided to make UL his new home. On Sunday, Richard told The Daily Advertiser he has committed to sign to play football for the Ragin' Cajuns. The earliest he can sign a binding letter of intent is Feb. 6. "I liked the atmosphere out there," Richard said. "They love the football players there. It was nice. It showed me the program is up and coming." Richard, who is 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, shined as a linebacker for Class 5A state champion Destrehan, but he is expected to play safety in college. Odom is enrolled. Beal is having problems with his transcrpits, I don't know if that has been resolved.

Why is he only rated as a 1 star (not that it really matters)? Size? Speed? Didn't play much until he was a Sr? For only being a 1 star, and for not being nationally ranked at his position, he seemed to have nice schools looking at him...Central Michigan, Iowa, Toledo, UL.

Also Cajun T, I didn't realize that Melvin White was a QB. Is he going to be playing QB at UL? I know that Kyron Benoit will be switching to Defense. What about White? And have you heard anything else about Curry, and how having all of these QBs (Masson, McGuire, Gauthier, White, Benoit) might affect his decision?

Although his pass defense looks decent, I am really impressed with the way this young man comes up and plays the run. Almost more of a safety then a CB.

He's a 2 star on Rivals, I find Rivals to be more credited than Scout.
