Thread: Crazy recruiting wars

  1. Default Crazy recruiting wars

As he prepares to help finalize his fourth signing class as UL’s recruiting coordinator, Reed Stringer looks back at the first one and can’t help but laugh.

It was early December of 2010, and Mark Hudspeth had just been hired as head coach of the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Does anyone have any information on the last two commits. I notice our class is slowly losing steam on scout any comments or we are going to be okay with this class. Is there possibly any good or bad surprises we can look forward to on signing day.

One's an OLB and the other is a WR/S. The OLB committed to us back in 2011 but signed with a BCS program and is coming home.

This will be a very good class......scout and the other recruiting services are not true evaluations of a players athletic ability.....the 2 commits are exceptional. Washington, the JC Linebacker will probably come in and start. Malik Williams, the athlete from Jennings HS has some academic work to do but he has a chance. he can play in the secondary and WR. Both are bonafide SEC level athletes. Remember folks, Elijah McGuire was rated a 2 star.

Thanks I thought Washington was the kid we went after a couple of years ago and lost to A&M.

Would I be correct in assuming that Washington would play olb in the 3-4 and de in 4-3? I think scout has him listed as a olb/ de so just trying to understand the projected position ideology.

  7. UL Football Re: Crazy recruiting wars

Bout right in your evaluation, and for an earlier post he was the TAMU signee and former early UL commit.

Yep, J-Town who was a stud on the Jennings Team several years back, keeps up with the Jennings Football program and is a big UL backer. He said, "Every opposing coach Jennings played said Malik Williams is by far the most talented player on the field!" He could play anywhere in the country. Great kid, no trouble, just will have to work with his grades. Awesome pickup by UL!

I agree with you, on paper it doesn't look to good. However, I trust this coaching staff.

A few people I trust have told me this will be Hud's best recruiting class. I don't know if still it holds true with the recent movements but I trust those people more than a bunch of know nothings at rivals or scout playing pin the stars on the Sun Belt recruits.

    Recruiting ?'s

Did we ever have a verbal or offer extended from this guy? or were we just interested?

    Shareef White
    Ht: 6-1 Wt: 220
    Position: OLB
    Year: Class of 2014
    High School: Grenada HS
    (Grenada, MS)

Not second guessing Hud but why are we recruiting so many WRs(6 verbals), are any going to be coverted to DB? We have 13 listed on roster.

Any expected surprises to look out for tomorrow?

White was committed to us...and decommitted and committed to Memphis with his friend Genard Avery who was also committed to us at one point. You win some...you lose some.
