Hey T, maybe you ought to be on the Advertiser payroll. They sure as heck have been using your hard work to their advantage recently...........until this faux pas.

Cajun T: I would like to ask your professional opinion on a particular player out of Desire St. Academy. His name is Freddie Smooth (OL/DT) 6'5" 300. Rivals lists him as having offers from Ole Miss, OU, La Tech, etc. Yet, scout.com shows NO OFFERS. He took a visit to OU with a fellow player, Edwards. Edwards got an offer but Smooth did not. GRADES???

The kid looks like he has a lot of upside potential, like a Michael Oher at Ole Miss, but I can not put a handle on why recruiting is moving slow for him. McNeese is not on him and it appears neither is UL.

Please forgive me for posting this on a public forum as my intent was to protect the integrity of the young man and your professionalism. I did not know any other way to post this privately. if you choose not to respond, I will respect that.

I'm not sure what the story is on some of the Desire St. Academy athletes Cowboy Up. I don't want to say that all these kids have academic questions, because I certainly don't know that as fact. Both Smooth and Edwards are big kids that can move, but they dominated at the 2A level against 190 pound athletes. I'm not sure they were tested that much against quality talent. Both of these kids received high grades at the Nike Camp, so BCS schools have them rated high. I don't understand how OLE Miss gets some of these athletes, with their academic standards. Louisiana Tech has the quarter system and actually sells potential recruits on enrolling into their system.

Thank you again for your response, Cajun T. Desire Street Academy and its leader Danny Wuerfuel moved to Baton Rouge after Katrina and has a school mostly of athletes. So, this is an enigma to me how all this plays out.

We needed a DT and looks like we got a good one. Good job coaches.

When I do a search for him on scout.com, his profile has 4 stars. Not that it really matters, but where did the 3 star reference come from?
