But we are looking at him on the offensive side of the ball right now
    I know we keep asking you this but how do you think we stand on Luther Ambrose and Damaris Johnson? From the article that was put in todays DA it looks like Johnson is strongly considering us. This would be a fabulous class

    I think the coaching staff will be surprised to hear he is definately coming next Saturday, along with his teammate Chis Richard. As of Friday afternoon, he did not return attempts to reach him. What is clear in his statement to me and the dailey, he is not going to commit on his visit. I still believe he is going to hold on until the last minute for a BCS offer. Those schools are leading this kid on; Miami and LSU are almost full. In fact, Miami is at 27 commits, so I don't know if Auburn or any other BCS program will offer unless they loose a committment at the last minute.

    Do you think that makes it likely he will fall to us if he doesn't get a BCS offer?

That changes absolutely everything for everyone else on defense. Last year, we had infrequent moments of DT/DE play, but no consistency. Our senior LBs are not good pass defense LBs. I would prefer they not have to. I'd like to shorten the middle by having better DB play, make rushing stop at the line, and passing a horrific experience for opponents by a better pass rush from the DL.

    We were not inaccurate in our criticism of our LB's soft middle on pass defense... but they should not have to cover the ground that was left to them. Far too many people see a result and blame the guy on the end of the play. Some of those plays should never have developed in the first place.

    One or two hellacious DTs controlling the middle can turn the rest of the defense into the stars they were meant to be. I still believe dominance starts at the line.
    Abso-freakin'-lutely right! We have some of those type of linemen on offense, but we need them on defense. Hopefully some of the DL commits we have (and ones who we will get) will be that type of player.

    That is the million dollar question. If another prospect makes a decision to commit while you are holding a scholarship for Johnson, do you turn him away for another program. This late in the game, I imagine that the clock is running on Johnson, Ambrose and Curry. Ambrose is scheduled to visit Memphis next week. At this point, I believe next week the visits set that have been confirmed;

    QB Tim Curry
    DL Derrek Dean
    WR Damaris Johnson
    SS Chris Richard

    How are we with Richard? He has potential...dont know how much at the next level but he was impressive with the few games i was able to catch of theirs.

    It's just hard to imagine we would pass on a guy like this (assuming he's as good as advertised), considering how we've struggled to accumulate talent along the defensive front.

    We could use him after losing Lamar Morgan

    Man, if we could get them both...wow. I am becoming very very anxious for signing day...

    Richard is open right now, but he was Def. MVP of the state championship game with 13 tackles and 2 sacks. He needs to work on his coverage in space, but he has very good athletic ability.

    Do we project him as a Safety or OLB...I have seen him listed as both.
