It's the way SBC Revenue shares. You guys only keep 50 percent of what you actually make in tickets. The rest goes to the conference which used to finance the trips of everyone who lost money
In most years this hasn't been an issue because the SBC has rarely had a situation where someone got sent to a far flung bowl. But ESPN vetoed Arkansas State/Central Michigan in Montgomery, so we got sent to Orlando. Then you have USA which missed out on a more local tied non SBC Bowl, and instead is getting sent to Tuscon.
We haven't needed your ticket sales in the past because we've been great at selling tickets for bowls, but Orlando is too far for fans to travel, so this year we need the money.
Interesting info in the email I received regarding the game.
"As an added bonus, RCAF Annual Fund donors who purchase tickets to the bowl game prior to the December 9th priority deadline will receive additional RCAF Priority Points added to their current point total. These points will be reflected in the accumulative point total in the donor’s account. Fans purchasing up to four bowl game tickets will receive five additional RCAF Priority Points. Fans purchasing five bowl tickets or more will receive a total of 10 additional priority points."
I went to the Web site but didn't see the bowl game
Here is the official SBC regulations on Post-season
