Yes, clearly, congratulations were in order. The 86 game was a very convincing win against a 2-9 Cowboy team.

However, that speaks more to the trend that USL can only manage to beat quality FCS schools when they're down.

And, not to belavor the point, but as has been pointed out, the name of the University in 1986 was USL...

I am not getting into the McNeese vs UL argument because it is a colossal waste of time for both parties. What I am concerned about is the amount of money that has been poured into our programs and facilities over the last 5 + years and what kind of return, or lack thereof, we have seen from 2 of the bigger sports. The fans have done their part by pledging enough funds to pay our coach quite well, buying season tickets and tailgating spots and whatever else the administration has asked them to do. We have done our part.................we are still waiting on the admin to do theirs.

The McNeese poster has laughed at our New Orleans Bowl victories and record over the past several years, let him. It's called progress, we just have to keep the nose of the ship going in the right direction and inching ahead. Our Athletic Department and/or coaches have not done a good job of keeping us inching ahead. Call it delusional, unrealistic expectations or whatever you want but we as fans deserve what we are paying for and we are not getting it. We can also do something about this by using our pocket books.

There is no reason that we should be worried about McNeese ever beating us in football but that is the reality at this point. Our coaches haven't recruited good enough, haven't coached good enough, haven't prepared good enough. They, and they only, are responsible for the upset that quite possibly will happen this weekend. In no way, shape or form am I disrespecting McNeese by my comments above but it is the truth. This game should be a one sided affair due to the obvious advantages FBS schools SHOULD have over an FCS. In our case.........our university has screwed the pooch and put us on a level playing field with them.
