Because UL had about as much to do with getting this broadcast as McNeese did. You said it yourself that it was Jordan and someone else who went out and pitched to Raycom....Not McNeese. However, I'm sure a contingency in this on Raycom's behalf was saying "We will do this IF we can get it in Lafayette as well". I doubt there's a ton of money into broadcasting this thing in LC only.
The way I understood Farmer (and I could be wrong) is that if we were to purchase our own production equipment we would essentially have fourth-tier rights. In other words, if Raycom wanted the McNeese game, they would have gotten it even if we wanted to produce it ourselves. So it is entirely possible that we could spend millions for equipment and not be able to use it for a single football game, at least the way the ESPN deal is structured now.
1) the contract expires (SBC and ESPN) in 2019 I believe. It will take at least a year, probably 2 to get everything up and running. It's ridiculous not to by the equipment.
2) if it's such a big risk, or non money maker, why is Ark St doing it, App St doing it, Geo St doing it?
3) if they are trying to move conferences, why would they not be planning for the future, by investing in this equipment? Plus, other conferences don't have such a _______ contract with media outlets.
The _______ continues to squat.
What a loser.
