UL's football squad picked up its third pledge of the recruiting season this week when Dutchtown tight end Brendan Wilson gave Cajun coach Rickey Bustle a verbal commitment to the February signing class.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Wilson is the Cajuns' third verbal pledge this year, joining Washington-Marion offensive lineman Joe Duhon and kicker Brett Baer of Brandon, Miss.
"I've been to a lot of the games in Lafayette," Wilson said. "All the coaches are nice and seem like good people, and the people I met there all said it was a great place to go to school. They've got a young team right now, and I think I can help be a part of what they're trying to do."
Wilson is in a predominantly-run offense, with Dutchtown only averaging two to three pass attempts per game. The squad of head coach Benny Saia, though, has a pair of 1,000-yard rushers through nine games, and Saia said Wilson is a big part of that ground success.

A change of heart and a desire to play closer to home were enough for St. Michael the Archangel’s Evan Ruiz to alter his college plans.
Ruiz, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound offensive guard, said Monday he has re-opened his recruiting process after originally committing to Vanderbilt in July.
“I’m going on the recruiting trail again,” Ruiz said.
Ruiz chose Vanderbilt after an unofficial visit to the Nashville campus with his parents. The lure of playing in the Southeastern Conference, coupled with the school’s strong academic reputation, where enough to select the Commodores over scholarship offers from Tulane and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

I dont see him here. If he is strong enough academically to get into Vandy, he is probably qualified to get into Tulane. I hope I am wrong.

It's been out for a month now, just not reported. I hope Evan decides to come to UL, he sure seems like a great kid to me.
