Thread: Not so good pub in the Beaumont Enterprise...

No spin needed. This is the dumbest crap. The kid went back on his commitment, and I'm supposed to cry because the same thing happened to him? He's not an infant. He knows how the whole thing works. And that coach can take his faux outrage and shove it. He doesn't own the athletes who play for him. Damn this is dumb.

That's another reason to take the bulls-eye off of Haack's back. You cannot ask a quarterback to out play his blockers. Even with those limitations, I still see a scenario where Haack getting the backing of the offensive playbook and the coaching staff...we don't sit at home during bowl season. I mean...the new offensive coordinator at the University of Minnesota picked Haack to run the offense. I would take his opinion on the kid over Bicky Rustle any day of the week...and twice on Sundays.

Greyshirt is now common place to add extra players at FBS levels mid term, this says something very clear about Beverly's perceived talent level projections at the FBS level. 0 out of 130 stepped up with any FBS offers with 5-6 weeks notice.
This right there. Players have gotten less notice of a greyshirt, or outright removal of an offer with hours before signing day. I understand his feelings are hurt, but in this day and age football is a business. If I was told I was being let go and had a month to find another job, that would be to me a courtesy instead of a slight. They had zero obligation to notify him at all. This is a different time period, though. Everyone wants to be triggered, if I may use today's lingo. Nobody knows how to deal with it anymore. Loss and struggles are good for the soul. It's catharsis. That kid should have looked at losing his only FBS scholarship as a wake up call, not an injustice.

Is it spin to say we had 25 scholarships to give, now we have 22, I don't think so.

Hawk. Haack was the best QB Jay had and really had no choice but to chose him. I had the luxury of seeing Haack in 7 on 7 drills, as I have all QBs over the last 15 yrs. It really doesn't matter how good or bad your o line is when you are not very good in 7 on 7 drills. He wasn't any better than Nixon at completing passes in those drills with no rush. I have had several conversations with the golden gopher coordinator at the ball park over the last couple of years. Our last conversation was in January this year when I asked him about our QB position in the future he said it was very bright. He thinks once Jordan gets a little more maturity he may be the best we've had under HUD.

You don't always have to believe the Bickanator I can not force you to seek the truth.

The coaches who saw the kid every day at practice ran what they thought he was capable of. If they would have thought he was Gods gift to QBing as many of you have built him up to be they would have done more offensively. I know the play callers felt very limited with his abilities or lack there of.

Jake Delhomme was not known as a good practice quarterback.

It would be a sad day indeed if coaches couldn't differentiate between practice and 62% completion rate in real game situations.

Thank you for saying this. I was going to post it, but I'm not allowed to give opinion on BH anymore.

Our play callers had their head up their asses last year. I pray it was as disgusting for them as it was for us. They sucked. They sucked the root. These same play callers ran a massively gifted athlete into the gut of every defense that looked them directly in their dull eyes with a loaded box... with an OL that couldn't push a shopping cart out of the way. These same play callers put a RB (by their own admission now) in at QB that... well... he never belonged at QB. And I could care less what you saw in 7 on 7 drills... I saw BH throw extremely well to WR's that simply dropped the ball.

These play callers sucked the root last year. That's the bad news... and it's absolutely undeniable. The good news is they admit it... in their clever little coaching way. They JUCO to improve the OL. They move the RB to RB. And they use Eli like he's supposed to be used. The injured WRs return, and the coaches talk about "putting the spread in spread". It's too late to help BH. But that's last year. Good luck to Jordan. But again... our coaching is not to be used for reference last year. They took a year off... and for any player that sucked on offense... our staff pulled a 5000 pound stronger vacuum. They sucked ___ and they know it.

Does this happen seldom enough that this kid could have been accommodated with an academic scholarship?

    Perhaps offers should be binding.

I hope it doesn't bite us in the end by burning the bridge in the Beaumont area.
Hudsbeth may still want to look into the possibility to help obtain an academic scholarship and offer it to the young man. At the very least I am sure Hud will call and talk to this coach and family/kid and respectfully explain why this has happened!
