However, If UL rescinded a week or less from signing day, then it was a crappy move on their part.

Having experienced college recruiting first hand, albeit in another sport, Z is right in that it is a rough business. I know athletes that have had offers pulled and in every instance, it has always been ugly. Lots of hurt feelings from the athlete and their family. The institution that rescinded the offer is almost always dogged out publically by the offended party and family. I can say that in almost every instance that I am aware of, the offer was rescinded by a coach who was coming off of a losing season and/or who was in the hot seat in regards to his job performance.
The offer was rescinded in December so Beverly had enough time to schedule official visits for January. He ended up signing with Southeastern Louisiana, so I'm not sure how much UL lost in the end. But from a coaching standpoint, Coach Hudspeth should have returned the phone call. That is not a smart things to do regardless if the high school coach still bans you from campus.

This Head Coach would never ban any University in Texas that did this. All he has done is lessen the chance for scholarship offers for his kids...

Once we go undefeated next year in football, we need to find this school's "Rudy" and offer him a scholarship next year. We'll go overnight from zeroes to heroes with this HS and everyone in Beaumont. Or, we find a "diamond in the rough" softball prospect out of this HS. We recruit her... show her the sweet side of UL... and Beaumont forgives us. Come on Beaumont... we did what we had to do. We'll make it up to you. PS That big boy gets to play college football. No harm, no foul.

I'm sorry that happened to him and I feel for him, but that's recruiting. It happens all the time all over the country.

That would be the test of his faux outrage coach. I doubt he would do it either, but it makes a great story in the local paper.

I feel sorry for the young man, I really do but he also left another school in his path. He broke his original commitment. Non story to me.

Katy ain't gonna send us another player. Haack led them to a High School State Championship and a mythical National High School Championship.

He was not given every opportunity to earn the job. We didn't give him an opportunity to excel by using his strengths within the framework of our system.

In fact the staff sabotaged him IMO. Best passer we have had since JVC and he only throws the ball 10 or 12 times within the Redzone.

I don't want to rehash what went down here, but Katy ain't gonna do us any favors from here on out. They supply the big boys. They don't need to help us out.

This is a non story. This coach saying that UL won't be allowed on his campus is the same issue I have with high school baseball coaches in this area. They try to control these kids from the time they enter the middle school programs. If a kid wants to play for UL and the coach won't let UL on campus, it will end bad for the high school coach. Same thing happened with a baseball player I know that is now at Troy. School coach told a certain D1 coach not to come to a game because he wouldn't pitch. Prevented D1 coach from seeing the other players on the team. Player transferred the next season from his school.

Also goes both ways. Basketball player I grew up with was undecided on college to attend. Jessie Evans tried to get his family/coach not to allow other schools at his games. That pretty much got Ul off his list. Player ended up at LSU playing for coach Brady, even though I tried to recruit him to UL.

I bet you are talking about Darrell Mitchell in that basketball reference. All he did was lead LSU to the Final Four.
