Crayfish are prey, bait, and scavengers. Hardly a worthy mascot.
So what is the standard here? If it doesn't have menacing teeth and/or claws then it isn't worthy of consideration? I think if we are looking for something to convey our Cajun-ness, then most people would go to crawfish right away. The problem that I see with it is that we proved that it was hard to put a crawfish on the field in any meaningful way back in the '80s.
It appears that we may be able to agree on at least one thing: There is no clear consensus. Good points were made on a number of fronts, but we are no closer to agreement than we were when we started. It is easy to see why the school hasn't been able to settle on a suitable mascot.
Those of you on Facebook might have seen my logo that I've used for years. A Fleur-des-les over the outline of the state of Louisiana. I don't know how many times I have started to send to T-Joe and coaches. Someone tell me how to copy to this tread and I'll try to post it.
Figured easiest way was to change my avatar, which I have. Logo is simple would show up well on helmet, batting hats, caps, uniforms and sports wear.
