It has bee 15 years since our name change and a marketing nightmare.??Time for some needed changes. The dialogue on this board is good.

Im good with the discussion, and I'm ready for some of the improvements mentioned. I don't think the "L" is a good idea. Bigger programs that are already established nationally can tinker with all kinds of things. The tinkering isn't what got them big. When we tinker too much, it makes us look desperate and silly. I've read all of your arguments for the "L" and I just don't want to go that direction. To me, we'll get laughed at. People will put the hand symbol for "L" on their forehead and mock us as "Losers". I just don't like it. the ways we display "UL" and "Louisiana" work fine. Our problem is in getting outsiders to use it on scoreboards and journalistic work. Do you think they'll put an "L" for us? I sure hope not. The "L" doesn't help identify us. I don't even like what Louisville is doing with it. It looks like crap. It's their ego trying to be like the "O" of Oregon. It looks like pure crap if you ask me, and it doesn't help them one bit. To me, I think we just need to delete some dumb things, including the yellow flames. Most of our other stuff needs to stay in place while we're in this current athletic up time. We've got some identity going that needs to stay in place. Getting rid of Cayenne and yellow flames (and yellow anywhere else) are enough for me right now.

LA is for ticker tape score scrolling as there simply is no other option.

L for the Letterman's club and exclusively for lettermen.

UL ever day use and the "I love UL" hand sign are very unique.

Louisiana for everything print and legal.

Ragin' Cajuns for everything.

Bullgator: Right where it has been for most of UL history, representing on campus.

I want mixes of both. I don't really care how they're mixed up on a variety of uniforms. The only thing I've been watchful of is that our admin tries to go "Ragin Cajuns" on everything in order to eventually eliminate the "Louisiana" on everything. That is unacceptable to me.

I can get behind nearly everything you wrote. We need a comprehensive, campus-wide, unwavering approach to this like yesterday. However, can we PUHLEEZE stop this bull gator crap. It is a tired, suck-_____ idea that has already been done. For crying out loud, we benefit from having one of the most unique footprints on the planet. I cannot see why we want to give that up. Florida beat us to the gator. Let's move on.

When your nickname is a group of people, you have to be really careful with your mascots. It is best to have a mascot that furthers your identity as a people or it should simply be a background character. Otherwise, they become your de facto nickname.

For those of you who love Ragin' Cajuns, you should be adamantly against the Gator mascot.
