Giving up big plays including two touchdown drives that took only 3 plays definitely hurt.

Losing 3 turnovers and getting none back hurt just as much.

But the offense performed worse than the D.

The D forced a punt after one of the fumbles and only gave up 3 on the other.

3 of LA Tech's touchdowns took a total of 63 seconds, the D was involved in two of those, both fixable big play surrenders.

Like you Turbine it's easy to blame the defense, but this game is on Jay Johnson's shoulders and Broadway's.

You can't play prevent zone defense on 3rd down. Big holes deep, no pass rush. Doesn't matter who you play.

The team (O, D, ST, coaches, fans) is not as bad as it looked at times Saturday. And tech (probably) isn't as good as they looked. You cannot discount the affect that momentum had on this game. One BIG play = momentum change. Multiple BIG plays = snowball you may not overcome. Apparently it's more difficult for some to grasp this concept. No one is debating weather or not we played well enough to win the game. We didn't. The point is that there were a few plays that can be identified just on the defensive side that changed the momentum of the game, and those are the situations that will most likely be addressed in practice going forward. We can't "undo" anything, but if we can identify and correct the biggest errors- we probably play much better all the way around. The same can be said on the offensive side. As fans it's in our nature to try and apply this retroactively (who doesn't wish we had smoked them instead). Yesterday HUD said looking back will do us "no good". They won't look back at "the game", just the situations. And only because there is something to gain from doing so.

We got spanked. There is really no way to debate it. Even for the folks that think that margin was predicated on a couple of defensive lapses, you can't argue the well over 500 yards of offense we gave up and the whopping near 8 yards per play that we gave up to suggest anything other than a complete domination on their part. We didn't execute properly on either side of the ball, it doesn't appear that we were really ready to play and we certainly didn't match their energy or aggression. LTU seemed to dominate us physically early and it got in our heads. Broadway was looking deep into Houston Bates' eyes all game long as I'm sure they conjured up some sort of bond as Bates was continuously chasing him around the backfield. Our OL got owned and despite what most thought going in, we are not more talented than Tech as they clearly looked the better team all game.

Now, its time to move on and hope we get our ____ together as we are looking a 7-5 or possibly 6-6 year right in the face. The way we have started this year, there is no reason to believe we will beat either Ole Miss or Boise and no reason to think we will run the table in the SBC. We can still win the conference and we can still have a great season but we need to gel now and start developing some much needed leadership on this team for that to happen.

Seems to me we went into this game with the identical game plan as we did vs Southern. BOTH the players and coaches went into this game with expectation of the same result as the Southern game and expected an easy win putting us at 2-0 going to our big game vs Mississippi. Even HUD said they need to stop looking ahead and reading about how great they are and go back to playing one week at a time. No one was prepared to respond to LT's punch to the mouth. HUD thought we could run the ball down their throats and throw only to keep them off balance. LT stopped the run, we did not spread the field and never threw beyond 10 yds and LT was able to bottle us up in the second half.

Defensively, HUD said we needed to focus on stopping the run. I think he thought LT's passing would be no more effective than Southern's, particularly after watching the OU film. LT proved otherwise. We went in the game with the wrong mindset and game plan and the staff did not adjust and players could not respond to the challenge.

What is worrisome is that HUD said we were sound in what we are doing and he is not changing anything, just opening up the play book more. This next game will prove if he is right or wrong. Let's hope it is just coach speak and Ole Miss is not prepared for significant changes being made.

Hell WE are a good example of this. 2 years ago Ark State took us apart. We didn't do anything well. Then we went to ULM as an underdog and won and then almost beat Florida. ____ happens.

Take away 3 out of 70 plays, not 40 plays out of 70. Three plays on the defense. Three plays on the offense. Cost us the game.

A total of 6 plays cost us a W against out most bitter rival.

First... you cannot take away any plays... much less 6. I can take one play away from us in each of our bowl games and reverse the outcomes of each of those games. We were owned by Tech.
