This is not a hit on Broadway. His running the past years was a dimension in our offense. When he was running the defense had to respect him. What is this about him sliding whenever he gets within 3 yards of a defender. It has got to be dictated by the coaching and not done on his own. This is not the NFL and he is not indisposable. Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning...sure, they need to be sliding but not a midlevel D1 college quarterback. His running needs to be brought back into the offensive scheme to give it that additional dimension that will demand attention by the defenses and thereby open up other plays.

As for our pass defense, if they keep hitting passes underneath, don't you think it is worth a try to get up on the line and bust them in the mouth before they get in their pass routes?

I blame this lack of production on both sides of the ball on the coaching in this game.

As frustrating as it seems sometimes, I still think Broadway is our best shot at having a good year. We have got to find a way to protect him better. With the pressure Tech was getting any of our QB's would have struggled. The coaches want him healthy and therefore instruct him not to take a hit if possible.

Not letting him run is putting him at more risk of an injury, he is getting lit up by defenders who are pinning their ears back after they realize he isn't gonna run and if he does he will slide very shortly after take off. I wouldn't be surprised if he injures himself trying to slide, he looks so unnatural trying to get down....like he really doesn't want too. Let the man run, he is just as big if not bigger than 7 or sometime 8 of the defenders trying to tackle him.

I agree that the pass defense needs to start jamming receivers at the line. I don't understand why we give so much space to receivers. The quarterbacks pick us apart because in addition to get getting no pressure the receivers are always wide open in position to catch quick passes.

That would be Hud's keep everything in front of us defense. It doesn't work.

Ever since he has been a full time starter (last season) he has struggled. When he was thrown into the spot light (after BLaine injury) he did amazing. Maybe he is better off the bench??? I don't know, but we need to figure something out

Of course its dictated by the coaches. They have limited his running options the last two years in the hopes of keeping him healthy and I agree, I've stated before that this offense is at its best when he is a full fledged running option and is willing to take it and move the chains. He's got the speed to make big plays and the size to fight through tackles. I understand if they want to try to keep him healthy as he got hit with the injury bug last year pretty good but as we saw last year, you can get hurt just as easily sitting back in the pocket throwing the ball as you can running the ball 20 yards downfield.

The problem we have is that we don't have very good cover corners and even when we did, the coaches always liked to run more zone than man which I don't always understand. However, our backs have been burned already this year, primarily Trim, and I don't think they have confidence that we can consistently cover good receivers on the outside for a decent period of time. If we were able to get more pressure on the QB, that might be a little different but we give the QB tons of time to sit back and let receivers get open.

I'm starting to realize the we had some very good recievers that made our QB's (Broadway and Gautier) look better than they might have really been. I.E. Greene, Lawson, Peoples.

I think we may have found something in Gabe Fusilier though. I expect his role to increase as the season progresses.
