I'm totally and thoroughly unimpressed by the very offensive strategy that you are pointing to... but to say that the offense single-handedly lost this game... is ludricous. The defense not only did not stop Tech... they gave up big plays that are the single reason they play such a pathetic defensive philosophy. Add to that fact, our defense never placed our offense in great positions... like many other defenses are required to in order to win games.
This was a coaching failure all the way around. And my theory that having this BS defense playing you in practice... not pressuring your QB... not defending half the receivers on the field... makes this offense think that is what they'll expect on Saturdays... is correct.
This coaching staff is expecting this team to out perform their opponent with purely what they brought with them from high school... with some serious gym time. This coaching staff needs to stop talking about "execution and turnover BS" and coach these players up.
Miraculously... when you coach well... players seem to execute better... and "turnovers happen". If I hear another head coach talk about "we didn't execute... and we didn't win the turnover battle"... I'm going to explode. That kind of dumb talk is equivalent to a gas station attendant saying, "I need to put less water in the gas tank... and more gasoline in it... and the engine will work better.". TEACH these young men better football!!!
"The price of recruiting better athletes over several years... and losing despite it... is questioning your own coaching abilites.". And there is no shame in it. Not learning the right lesson in a lesson learning opportunity is the only shame.
