My thinking is there is a new sheriff in Hogsville, and Vegas knows he plays old time power football and defense. The line is unsure, but I think similar to a BAMA team. They do not think we will score thirty points on the Hogs, but are not sure how good their defense will be, and how long it will take for them to implement a power football offense.
While the Hoax beat a number eight team, we will face a better team ranked lower, but at the end of the season, the Hogs will be ranked higher than they ended up last year.
I agree that's a pretty big statement of confidence in this Louisiana football squad. However, it's not much of a slight to us, either. Although I seriously doubt you'll be 20 point underdogs by the time the game rolls around, I suspect it'll go higher than 8 or 9. If by shutting you down you mean shutting you out, no, that just doesn't happen very often… period (unless you're us last year vs. Alabama, haha). Louisiana is coming off back-to-back 9-4 seasons, I think we're going to have our hands full.
I'm fully expecting a win out of this, but you never know. We're not going to be nearly as good as Florida was last year, you had Florida on the ropes. If that UL team shows up, we're screwed. Then again, we don't know how competitive Bielema is going to have us right off the bat.
But after Florida's embarrassing Sugar Bowl performance against Louisville, I wonder if it was you who almost won that game, or Florida who almost lost it.
Make no bones about it, Florida was overrated. I think it was a decent matchup for us. Bottomline though is that we are a better program on all levels than many out there believe. We are much improved in the trenches on both sides of the ball which will allow us to compete at higher levels than in the past and is a reason this game will be closer than most predict. Our OL and DL will be better than you and most other Hog fans will want to presume and that will allow us room to make plays on both sides. I don't care what type of coach you brought in, I think you will have more trouble than you anticipate running the ball on us. This is of course, we don't run some crazy hybrid prevent like we did against Troy last year which yielded a ton of passing yards but very little on the ground. I think we will compete on the front lines and allow us to keep this very, very close
First off, thanks for coming over. Also appreciate your class and respect. We often aren't used to either from the big dogs.
Second off, why the hell did ya'll lose to Monroe? I know you had a freshman qb in the second half, but still.
Thanks for giving those guys hope.
Seriously, it took us putting a whipping on them (again for the fifth time in a row) to shut them up some.
And now, we've got the job of trying to beat you in you first home game with a new coach. That sort of thing has "trap" written all over it.
I don't know if we'll win, but we'll give you a good game.
