Below is an excerpt from a ticket office email on why they are seating upwards and not outwards:
"We are lucky that the New Orleans Bowl has opened the terrace to us this year because if you remember from last year, they kept it closed. The Loge and Plaza Levels end zone seats were given to Bowl sponsors, New Orleans Sports Foundation, and other Bowl members. We did not receive these tickets for us to sell this year. We received in our original allotment 106-122, 207C-235C, 304C-320. The only end zone seats we received were for our students (126, Band 124, and students 104). The bowl also gave us 2 section of plaza seats on the ECU side but it was decided by the athletic department and ticket office that it would be a disservice to place our own season ticket holders on the opposite side of the field from our fans and team.
The rest of the end zone unlike last year is not able to be sold by our ticket office. We did receive one section in the Loge end zone (301) but the ticket office and athletic department decided it was better to put season ticket holders on our sideline between the 20 yard lines. We started with 5 sections in the 500 level and 3 in the 600 level. This has grown to sections 511-523 and 611-617. We are going to continue to place orders in the sections and keep working our way until all of the orders are filled.
The major difference in seating in the terrace this year compared to last is that we received no plaza or loge end zone seats, except for those few sections I mentioned above."
that is bs why turn down better seats to put your fans in worse seats - last year we wrapped around the whole dome and it looked great this year we will run up one side and the cameras will see empty sections - ____ poor planning on our administrations part which will come back to bite them in their ___ when we have to travel a little further and they have ____ed off fans because they ____ed this up
What really sucks about this is that those end zones seats will most likely not be filled.
Imagine if this were the case last year, and the replay shot of Baer's winning kick going through the uprights would not have looked as cool as it did without all the fans going nuts in the endzone as soon as it passed through the uprights. I was thinking about this just last night after I watched the youtube Sportscenter clip again and when they showed the kick, you see a ton of fans in the end zone and it looked absolutely packed!! The funny thing is the opposite end zone was almost completely empty, so if Baer would have been kicking to the other field goal, the replay would not have looked NEARLY AS GOOD as it did.
I would love to pony up tons of dollars but reality is I can only make a game or two a year, I dont live in Lafayette anymore, have a business to run, 2 girls that swim year around and a wife that would be upset if I was gone all football season. But the other reality is I have not missed going to as many games as possible every year since I started college in 1985, even arranged my leave in the military to make sure that I was in the country for some home games when I was in the military. So no I can't pony up for season tickets that would go unused, but our fans shouldnt get screwed because our administration is beind short sighted
