PreGame 2011 New Orleans Bowl - Walking To New Orleans

As you all know UL ticket office started taking orders for tickets long before they had tickets in hand.

Yesterday my brother who already has his ticket drove to the Cajun Dome from NI to buy 4 more for customers and he was told to fill out the order form and they would call him. At what point can someone just walk up to the ticket window and buy a ticket without having to make 2 trips to the ticket office? We are a week away from the game one would think you would no longer have to fill out the order form and wait for a call.

I'm not sure, but I think we only got a limited set of tickets to the bowl. I know we had an initial set and immediately asked for a second set. Those handled most of the pre-orders and early sales. I believe we have ordered additional sets, but they may not be on hand. That being said for new ticket orders, there ARE some serious glitches in the process for those who ordered tickets way ahead of time, but had to wait until recently to actually pick up tickets. I am confident that those issues will be corrected for our next bowl game.

I'm not sure everyone that has ordered tickets has theirs yet. Those folks have to get theirs before they can sell them when you walk up. Otherwise, they'll run out of tickets before they get to the end of the list of people who have reserved those tickets. You fill the reservations before you allow walk-up purchases. if I go to a hotel that is booked with reservations, they'll turn me away even if they have 20 empty rooms.

That said, I like learning new things, like how to administer bowl tickets. Easy for me to say.... I have my tickets

The dome holds somewhere around 65,000. So they should have about 35,000 seats to sell to anyone how would like a ticket. So what's the deal about filling out a form and wait for a call. Give my break.

Everybody - you can go to Ticketmaster or the Superdome and walk away with tickets anytime. But UL does NOT get any credit (or money) for that. If you want the money to go to UL, then you HAVE to go through the UL process. The problem is, in part, that UL only has ON HAND a very limited number of tickets. They can't just spit out a ticket on demand. Now, have there been some problems with ticket distribution for the tickets they DO have? Yes. But for some reason, a lot of people seems to think that you can just walk up, fork over some money, and walk away with tickets in hand right there, just like it was a game at Cajun Field. This is a different process. It is very obvious that we haven't been to a bowl game since Moses was a small boy...

Didn't your QB only throw like 5 ints the entire year? I don't think he's too prone to poor decisions...lol.

I think that both qbs are very efficient and I have the feeling that one of them will be tested quite a bit in this game. I think whichever QB has the better game, that team will win. I just hope its ours.

I just looked up his stats, he threw only 8 ints this year, but he also had the fewest amount of pass attempts in his career. His INT percentage is at the lowest of his career, (just over 2% of his passes were picked, compared to the last 2 seasons were around in the 3-4% range of his passes being picked. With that said, you're correct, that's still not a bad percentage, outside of the TCU game, stats don't bear out that he was the reason for any of their losses this season.

With that said, what does give some credence to their assertion, he has his lowest completion percentage of his career at just 52% on the season. He only had over 60% completion percentage twice this season, against Air Force, and New Mexico. Conversely, he was under 50% completion percentage 5 times, in those games where he was under 50% they were 2-3, and one of those wins was a squeaker over a less than steller 3-8 Army team. So keeping his completion percentage down would be a big gain for the Cajuns, which I like our chances with the DB's we have in Bentley and White.

So I see it this way, I think our offense will get our opportunities, we match up well against a 3-3-5 defense, which we've already shown, we need to get Harris cranked up which will allow our big playmakers down the field to do what they do best. If Harris is effective, then I expect Green, Lawson, and Peoples to be able to exploit some openings.

Lastly, the one factor that no one has noticed or thinks about, Rocky Long has not shown to be a good bowl game coach, he is 1-4 in bowl games with his only win being over a 6-6 Nevada team. There is something to be said about a coach who can keep his team focused on the game over the festivities of bowl week, some coaches are better at it than others. I don't know how HUD will handle it, we haven't seen him coach a bowl game yet, BUT, we do know Long's history in that situation.

I think if we come to play like we did against FIU, MT, Troy, I think we win this game.

The Ragin’ Cajuns football team will depart as a team from the Cox Communications Athletics Complex on buses on Tuesday at 1 p.m. to head to New Orleans, LA for the 2011 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

Fans are encouraged to come and send off the players as they are set to make the school’s first bowl appearance in 41 years.

The team is estimated to arrive at the Marriott hotel at 3:30 p.m. in New Orleans.

Also the UL Athletics Department has sold over 17,000 tickets for the 2011 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

Hey, I am a huge Ryan Lindley fan. In fact many Aztec fans have dogged me over his 4 years for talking well about him. He does have two pretty big problems though...

-Poor decisions when being rushed (whether to throw it away or WHERE he throws it in bounds).

-Touch on his short passes.

Hey, I am a huge Ryan Lindley fan. In fact many Aztec fans have dogged me over his 4 years for talking well about him. He does have two pretty big problems though...

-Poor decisions when being rushed (whether to throw it away or WHERE he throws it in bounds).

-Touch on his short passes.

That's not an uncommon problem for strong-armed QBs. In fact, in the first few games this year, many Cajun fans were tough on Gautier about that same issue. He seems to have made some adjustments. That or the coaches have called much fewer short passes!
