New Orleans Bowl good deal for Cajuns

Only in theory, some bowls pay in vouchers. Vouchers in the form of seats that the school has to sell to actually get the money.

The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl is one on the voucher pay system.

Big bowls do the same thing but it is still hidden in "promise to buy" ticket sales by the school. I can remember some "double pay" bowls picking one team over another because the school promised to buy a certain number of tickets.

UL can make the most money going to the New Orleans Bowl, which makes it a best case scenario.

Ask Rutgers and UConn what they think of double pay.

The NO Bowl as a worst case scenario is a given...I doubt the official announcement will be given until the last minute, because the payout is terrible, and a bid anywhere else would pay double or more.

I am one of those doubters and I will tell you why. I have seen, too many times over the years, where our athletic teams have been slighted in one form or another. I am of the belief, whether real or perceived, that Wright Waters has something against this university and looks for ways to shaft us and prevent us from succeeding. That may be due to his weakness as a negotiator or because he really doesn't like us, I don't know. I just feel that if he is given any ammunition to argue against us, he will use it.
Additionally, I have not seen anything, either from the Sun Belt by-laws or the New Orleans Bowl guidelines, that gives any certainty that they have to take us under any set of circumstances. I'm not even seeing that they have to take us even if we are the outright conference champion, other than the statement that they have to take the conference champion 2 out of every 4 years. I realize and accept that the New Orleans Bowl wants us. I agree it makes total sense for them to take us. I can see everything working in our favor to go. But until such time as an official announcement is made, I refuse to get my hopes up.

I certainly understand where you are coming from. And, no, the NO Bowl does NOT have to take us. My understanding is they WANT to take us, and have for a while because they know we would bring a bigger crowd than any previous SBC team. Besides that, all of the "people in the know" all seem to think it is a done deal. Also, UL has started taking deposits on ticket reservations. Has that EVER happened before? I know those are not "in concrete" enough to say that we are 100% guaranteed to be in. But I'd say we are as close to being a lock as can be.
