Referring to Lucy on the Peanuts cartoon. Remember that Lucy would hold the football for Charlie Brown to kick, then at the last minute she'd pull it away and poor Charlie Brown would go sprawling on his backside. Then Lucy would promise not to do that again, but she'd pull that ball away again everytime. He'd fall for it each time. Kinda like when UL looked promising ("go ahead and kick it, I'll hold it this time for sure") - like after that win at Houston. Then when our expectations go up, Wham!, on our backsides we'd go. Very disappointed --- AGAIN!!! Well, this year with Hud, Lucy has left the building! Hooray!!!

I certainly understand where you are coming from. And, no, the NO Bowl does NOT have to take us. My understanding is they WANT to take us, and have for a while because they know we would bring a bigger crowd than any previous SBC team. Besides that, all of the "people in the know" all seem to think it is a done deal. Also, UL has started taking deposits on ticket reservations. Has that EVER happened before? I know those are not "in concrete" enough to say that we are 100% guaranteed to be in. But I'd say we are as close to being a lock as can be.

Question: I've heard it said 100 times now that the New Orleans Bowl is a done deal. But there are three teams in conference that are pushing this thing to the wire. What if Ark State wins out along with Western and we end up with a great record but third in the final conference standings. Are we left at home even with say a 9-3 record?
